IPHONE 16 PRO MAX BUYBACK
We pay between $185 and $872 for an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Capacity, condition, and carrier are the three selections that change the price.
For example, an Unlocked item will generally be a higher payout than a carrier locked item (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc). Carrier locked means the phone runs on one network only, until that network releases it. We checked all ninety prices on this model. Unlocked is the highest of the five at every capacity and every grade, so the grid below is the best case for any phone on this page.
Most people call this a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and on a phone this expensive the comparison people think they are making is not the one they actually make. Comparing two numbers is easy. What stops people is putting something worth four figures into a mailbox. So here is the answer to that, plainly. The phone is scanned when it reaches us, again when a technician opens it up, and again when it leaves. Everything on it is erased to Department of Defense standards, and that happens whether we end up buying the phone or recycling it. Nothing is settled until you say so. Ask for it back at any point and it is posted to you at our cost. The number is the easy part of this decision.
One thing on this phone is worth a moment before you pick a grade. Run a finger down the right edge, below the power button. There is a flat panel set slightly into the frame that does not click like an ordinary button. Press it and the camera opens. Rest a finger on it and slide, and the zoom moves. Apple calls that Camera Control, and the 16 generation is the first to have one. The 15 Pro Max has nothing in that spot, which is the quickest way to tell the two apart.
It matters for your grade because any button that has stopped working grades the phone Faulty. Camera Control is the one people forget, since plenty of owners never deliberately use it. So test it now. Lock the phone, press the panel once, and the camera should open. Then slide a finger along it and watch the zoom. If nothing happens on a phone that is otherwise fine, pick Faulty and take that price rather than a surprise at inspection.
One more check, and it catches more people than you would think. Apple never made a 128GB Pro Max. The smallest one is 256GB. Open Settings, then General, then About, and read the Capacity line, which shows usable space rather than the figure printed on the box. A real Pro Max reads about 238GB, 476GB or 953GB. If it reads about 119GB you are holding a 16 Pro or a plain 16, and it should be quoted as that phone.
The rest is short. We buy an iPhone 16 Pro Max cracked, scratched, with a ghost on the screen or with a battery under 80 percent. Faulty is a row with real money in it on a phone this size. The one we cannot buy is one that will not power on, because it cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it. That one is recycled free or posted back free. Shipping is free both ways and your price is held for 14 days.
LIVE PRICES
The used resale value of an iPhone 16 Pro Max runs from $185 to $872. Every number in this grid is live. It comes from the same feed that prices your quote. It moves when the market moves. These are unlocked prices. Carrier-locked phones are quoted separately.

HOW IT WORKS
Pick your storage, your carrier and the grade that fits the wear. The Buyback price you accept is locked for 14 days. It stays put while the phone is in the mail.
We email you a prepaid USPS label. Erase the phone first. This one is heavy, so pad both faces before you seal the box. Hand it in at any post office. Shipping is free both ways. If you change your mind and want the phone back, that costs you nothing either.
We check every iPhone 16 Pro Max by hand within 48 hours of arrival. If it matches what you told us, the money goes out that day. We pay via gift card, PayPal, bank transfer, or check. If we find something you didn't know about, we'll tell you what it changes.

IPHONE 16 PRO MAX QUESTIONS
Storage, carrier and wear set the number. The grid on this page holds every combination. The quote tool gives you your exact Buyback price in about a minute.
They are two different transactions. A carrier or a retailer takes the phone as part of a deal for something else you are buying, so the value comes back to you attached to that purchase and released over the life of an agreement. We are buying the handset on its own, at a price set by what a used 16 Pro Max is worth this week. Nothing on our side depends on you buying anything at all. That is why the form asks for storage, carrier and grade and then stops. There is no plan to join and no upgrade to qualify for.
The list of places that will quote a four figure phone is short, and it gets shorter once you want money rather than credit. Apple's own program pays you in Apple credit. A carrier pays you on your phone bill. A private listing looks like the highest number until you count what comes with it: arranging to meet a stranger, and no protection if the payment is reversed after they walk off with the phone. We are the version that pays cash and carries that risk instead of handing it to you. Put your storage, carrier and grade into the quote tool and you will have our figure in about a minute to hold against anyone else's.
There's a two second test for this, and it catches more people than you'd guess. The Pro Max never came in 128GB. Apple started it at 256GB, so a 128GB Pro Max has never existed.
Open Settings, tap General, then About. Read the Capacity line. Your phone reports usable space there, which is smaller than the size printed on the box. A real Pro Max reads near 238GB, 476GB or 953GB.
If it reads about 119GB, the phone in your hand isn't a Pro Max. It's a 16 Pro or a plain 16 at 128GB. Quote it as the model it actually is.
The camera lets you check the other half. A Pro Max has three lenses in a triangle, like the 16 Pro. The plain 16 and 16 Plus have two in a vertical pill. Screen size splits the two Pros, at 6.9 inches against 6.3.
Getting this wrong isn't a grading fault, so nobody is penalized for it. It does mean the quote you accepted was for a different phone. We re-price it at inspection instead, which nobody enjoys, and a 30 second look at that Capacity line avoids the whole thing.
Look at the back. The 16 Pro Max has a square camera block in the top left corner. The 17 Pro Max has a wide bar running the full width of the phone.
Both are 6.9 inches, so size settles nothing here. The Model Number line in Settings, General, About confirms it either way.
Yes, at the Faulty price. What you're describing is burn-in, and it grades Faulty on any OLED iPhone.
It shows up on this model around the always-on clock and the Dynamic Island. Open a plain white photo full screen at full brightness. Any ghost of the clock or a keyboard will stand out against the white.
We buy burn-in phones every week. Grade it Faulty up front and the number you accept is the number you get paid.
Yes. Any crack or chip grades the phone Faulty. That covers the screen, the back and all three lens covers. Faulty is a real price here, not a polite no. A battery under 80 percent grades Faulty too, and we buy those the same way.
We can't buy it. We can't test a phone with no power. We can't clear your data off it either. Send it in anyway. We'll recycle it free, or mail it back to you free.
That grades the phone Faulty. Check it in Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health and Charging. At 80 percent or above, the battery has no effect on your grade.
Sooner rather than later. Values drop hardest in the weeks after Apple launches a new iPhone. That happens every September.
Sitting in a drawer costs you as well. The battery ages whether you use the phone or not. Once Maximum Capacity drops under 80 percent, the phone grades Faulty.
Yes, and it isn't the same amount at every grade. Unlocked, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon each get their own quote. Pick your real carrier in the quote tool and you'll see your number.
Your carrier will quote this phone too. Theirs usually arrives as bill credit over 24 or 36 months. Ours is $615 for a Good 256GB, in cash, sent the day we finish checking it.
No. We do not purchase devices under financial obligations. That covers a carrier installment plan and a lease. Clear the balance and we'll quote the phone normally.
No. Every grade needs a clean ESN. That rules out a phone reported lost or stolen. It also rules out one blocked by a carrier or still signed in to an Apple Account.
Back up first. Sign out of iCloud so Find My switches off. Then erase the phone in Settings. Our Device Erasure Guides walk you through it.
We wipe every phone we buy to Department of Defense standards on arrival. That holds whatever state it turns up in.
Four options, and you choose when you accept the price. A gift card lands about 3 percent above the cash figure, because the brands fund a bonus on top of it. PayPal is instant, and PayPal takes its own 2.99 percent out on the way through. A bank transfer is 2 to 4 days and a mailed check is 3 to 5.
On a phone at this price that spread is worth real money rather than small change, so it is worth ten seconds of thought instead of clicking the first option. Whichever you pick, it goes out the same day the phone clears inspection. One restriction: a sealed Brand New 16 Pro Max is paid through PayPal only.
Storage, carrier, condition. About a minute, and your Buyback price holds for 14 days.
