IPHONE 17 PRO MAX BUYBACK
We pay between $260 and $1,188 for an iPhone 17 Pro Max. Capacity, condition, and carrier are the three selections that decide where in that range you land.
An Unlocked item pays more than a carrier locked item (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc). Carrier locked means the phone is tied to one network until that network frees it. We checked all one hundred and twenty prices on this model. Unlocked is the highest of the five in every one of the twenty four squares of the grid. T-Mobile is second everywhere, then AT&T, then Verizon, and anything else pays least.
Most people call this a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and one difference shows up in which side the clock is on. A carrier's deadline protects the carrier. Take the offer this week or it is gone. The fourteen day lock on this page runs the other way. It protects you from us. Used prices fall, and on a phone at this level a slow week in the market is real money. Once you have accepted a number, that fall is ours to absorb rather than yours.
Open Settings, then General, then About, and read the Capacity line near the top. On some of these phones it says about 2TB. Apple has never sold any other iPhone with that much storage, in eighteen years of building them. Not the smaller iPhone 17 Pro, and not any earlier Max. Only this one.
Set the capacity before anything else, because on this phone it is worth more than any other choice on the form. A sealed 2TB pays over two hundred dollars more than a sealed 256GB. Nothing on the outside of the phone tells you which one you are holding. If the box and the receipt are long gone, that Capacity line is the only reliable answer.
The other choice worth slowing down for is the step between Average and Fair. One test separates them. Take the case off, find good light, and drag a fingernail slowly across the glass and down each rail. Light marks you can see but cannot feel are Average. Marks you can feel are Fair. On a 2TB those two rows are hundreds of dollars apart, so be honest with yourself.
Anything that stops the phone being what it was forces Faulty. That covers a crack or a chip anywhere, a bent frame, burn-in on the screen, and a battery under 80 percent. Engraving on the back does it too, so does Face ID that has quit, and so does any fault in the speakers or the microphones. It is a principle rather than a closed list. Every one of those still has a price on this page.
The only phone we cannot put a number on is one that will not switch on, and we recycle that for free rather than leave you holding it. The price you accept is held for 14 days. HOW IT WORKS
Set the capacity first, because on this phone that choice is worth more than anything else on the form. Then the carrier, then the grade. Do the fingernail test before you decide between Average and Fair, since on a 2TB those two rows are hundreds of dollars apart. Accept the Buyback price and it is frozen for fourteen days.
We email a prepaid USPS label the moment you accept. Sign out of iCloud, wipe the phone, then pack it so the 6.9 inch screen has padding on every side. A big display in a loose box arrives with a new crack surprisingly often. Nothing else needs to come with it, no box, no cable, no case.
Inspection is finished within two days of the parcel landing, and payment leaves the same day it passes. Gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check, your pick. If the phone is not what you described, you get the corrected number and the choice to take it or have the phone returned free.

Capacity first, then condition. A 1TB in Good condition is $1,030. The same phone in Fair is $618. A 256GB that is cracked pays $260. Put your exact combination through the quote tool at the top for the real Buyback price.
Considerably more. Sealed, a 2TB is $1,188 against $974 for a sealed 256GB. In Good condition the same comparison is $1,065 against $865.
The 2TB tier only exists on this phone. Apple has never sold any other iPhone with that much storage, so if yours is a 2TB you are holding the highest paying iPhone in our catalog and it is worth taking two minutes over the Buyback price.
Settings, General, About, and read the Capacity line near the top. Not the free space number underneath, which only shows what is left after your photos. If Capacity says anything in the region of 2TB, that is the top tier and you should select 2TB in the quote tool. If you no longer have the receipt or the box, this line is the only reliable answer, and nothing on the outside of the phone tells you.
The Max is the 6.9 inch one, the Pro is 6.3, and there is no mistaking them once you have seen both. Because the whole ladder is stretched on an expensive handset. On a 2TB, Average is $1,012 and Fair is $639. The line between them is one test: light wear you can see but not feel with a fingernail is Average, wear you can feel is Fair.
So do the test properly. Case off, good light, drag a nail slowly across the glass and along each rail. If it catches, that is Fair, and choosing Average will only mean a corrected number when it reaches us.
Yes. Any crack or chip on the screen, the back or a lens cover means Faulty, and Faulty on this model is still a substantial payment: $260 at 256GB and $320 at 2TB. A bent frame lands in the same place, as does burn-in on the screen. Tell us at the pricing step and the number you see is the number you are paid.
That is Faulty. So is a phone displaying a service battery message. Check it in Settings, Battery, Battery Health & Charging and read Maximum Capacity. At 80 percent or above the battery plays no part in the grade at all, so do not talk yourself down over a phone that still needs a top-up in the afternoon.
Light wear you cannot feel with a fingernail. That is the whole definition. Above it, Good is wear you cannot see at arm's length and Flawless is a phone with no marks on it. Below it, Fair is heavy wear you can feel, with no cracks or chips anywhere. The moment anything is cracked or chipped, none of those apply and the phone is Faulty.
Not as a purchase. A dead phone cannot be tested and your data cannot be wiped from it, so there is nothing solid for us to price. We would rather say that than invent a number. You can still send it though. Recycling is free and responsible, we still run the DoD wipe on whatever we can reach, and if you would rather have it back that is free too.
No, not until the balance is cleared. Carrier installments and leases both count as financial obligations, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Once you own it outright it prices normally, and on a phone this valuable it is usually worth paying off the remainder and selling it properly.
Neither one is something we can buy. A clean ESN is required at every grade, so anything reported lost or stolen, or barred by a carrier, or on a blacklist, comes straight back to you. Same with a phone still signed in to an Apple Account, because it cannot be used by anybody else. Both are checkable in a couple of minutes before you post.
The lock changes the number, and by different amounts at different grades. Unlocked, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Other are all priced separately, so select the one that matches your phone. On this model we checked every cell, and unlocked is the highest of the five at every grade and every capacity. As a reference point, unlocked and Average at 1TB is $979 today.
On the wider question, a trade-in at Apple or your carrier is credit, not cash. It comes off the price of the next phone, or it lands as a bill credit spread across two or three years of a plan you have to keep paying. A Buyback ends when the money reaches you. On a handset at this price the gap between the two is worth checking rather than assuming, so get both numbers before you decide.
Yes, but it grades Faulty. Engraving is on our automatic Faulty list alongside cracks and battery faults, because a personalized phone is much harder to resell. It does not matter whether Apple did the engraving at the point of sale or somebody added it afterwards. Choose Faulty, take the number, and there is no argument at inspection.
Back it up, then Settings, your name at the top, scroll down, sign out of iCloud. That is the step that releases Find My. Follow it with Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Erase All Content and Settings. If you would like it walked through, our erase your device page has the full sequence.
We wipe everything that reaches us to Department of Defense standards as well, buying it or recycling it. Your own erase is what stops the phone bouncing back to you unprocessed.
