It's the 5x zoom lens, and this phone is the only iPhone 15 with one. A long lens needs depth, and a thin phone hasn't got it. So Apple folded the light path instead. The light bounces four times inside a glass prism before it reaches the sensor. That fits 120mm of reach into a few millimetres.

The lens cover over it is bigger than the other two, and it stands proudest. That corner meets the table first when the phone goes down.

Check it with raking light. Hold the phone under a lamp and tilt it slowly. Let the light skim across the camera bump instead of shining straight in. A chip catches the light and flashes. A scratch shows as a line. Do all three lens covers, because it's easy to blame the wrong one.

A chipped lens cover grades the phone Faulty, even when your photos look fine. That rule catches plenty of Pro Max sellers. The tetraprism cover takes the hit first.

Then test the zoom itself. Open the Camera app and tap the 5x button. Watch what happens at 2x on the way there. If the view stalls at 2x and only crops, the tetraprism isn't engaging. A camera that won't switch lenses is a fault. Grade it Faulty, and we'll still buy the phone.

Open Settings, then General, then About. The Capacity line tells you what the phone holds.

If that line says 128GB, you have an iPhone 15 Pro, not a Pro Max. This model started at 256GB. Apple never sold a 128GB version.

Heavy wear you can feel, with no cracks and no chips. That's the whole rule. Think deep scratches, worn edges, marks you notice without hunting for them.

Wear you can see but can't feel is Average. Light wear you'd miss at arm's length is Good. One crack or chip makes it Faulty instead, however tidy the rest looks.

Fair is the honest grade for two years of pocket use without a case. Picking it costs you nothing at inspection, because we check against what you told us.
