There is a price on this page for a broken iPad Pro. There is no price for a dead one, and that single line is the whole boundary of a Buyback. Cracked glass, a Face ID array that has quit, a battery that will not hold an afternoon, a SIM tray that never came back from a repair: each of those has a row below, because a tablet that still powers on can be tested and wiped. A 2018 Pro that will not wake up at all has no cash number, since we can do neither of those things to it. Everything short of that does.
On WiFi the numbers run from $28 for a 64GB with a smashed screen to $246 for a 1TB still sealed in its wrap. Every step between the two is in the table, set by size and by wear.
Average means light wear you cannot feel when you run a fingernail over it. That is where most 2018 Pros honestly sit by now, and it is real money for a tablet that stopped leaving the house years ago.
Take the Apple Pencil off the side before you do anything else.
This is the generation where Apple flattened the long edge and buried magnets and a charging coil underneath it. The Apple Pencil (2nd generation) does not plug into this iPad anywhere. It sticks to that edge, charges there, and stays there. Which is lovely right up until you tape the box shut.
We buy the tablet on its own. A Pencil costs about 129 dollars new, it adds nothing at all to your quote, and once it is inside the parcel there is no route for us to send it back. It is the thing people mail us by accident more than anything else on this model, for the simple reason that it was already attached. Slide it off, put it in a drawer, then pack the iPad.
That same flat edge is also the fastest way to know which Pro you are holding. Run a thumb down the side. Flat aluminum, no button under the screen, and a Pencil that clips on magnetically means you are on the right page. If the sides curve into the back and there is a round Home button below the glass, you have the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation) or the iPad Pro 10.5-inch, and their Pencil is the round one that charges by sticking out of the bottom of the tablet.
Where to sell an iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) mostly comes down to who still quotes a 2018 tablet honestly. We do, used or broken. HOW IT WORKS
Pick 64GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB, WiFi or WiFi + Cellular, and the grade that matches the wear. Run a fingernail around all four corners of the glass first, because a chip you can catch a nail on is a crack and any crack grades Faulty. The Buyback price you accept is locked for 14 days.
A prepaid USPS label comes by email. Erase the iPad and sign out of iCloud first so Activation Lock is off. Then pull the Apple Pencil off the edge, leave the keyboard folio and the charger at home, and send the tablet bare.
We inspect within 48 hours of the box landing. If it matches what you told us, the money goes out that same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every iPad gets a DoD-grade wipe here, whether we buy it or recycle it.

IPAD PRO 12.9 INCH BUYBACK QUESTIONS
Storage and condition decide it. A 256GB in Good condition pays $145. Drop that same iPad to Average and it is $132. A 1TB with no marks on it anywhere is Flawless, which pays $215. The table above has all 24 WiFi figures, and the quote box gives you your exact one.
No, nothing. The offer covers the iPad by itself, so the Apple Pencil, the Smart Keyboard Folio, a case and the charger add zero dollars to it. Worse, we have no way to mail an accessory back once it arrives. The Pencil is the one that catches people out on this model, because it is magnetically attached and travels with the tablet without anyone deciding to send it. Take it off at the kitchen table, not at the post office.
Turn it over and count the rear cameras. One lens on its own is the 2018 tablet you are quoting here. Two lenses in a square, with a small black dot beside them, is the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) from 2020, which has its own page and its own prices. The bodies are otherwise near identical, so the camera is the quickest tell. The A-number settles it either way: A1876, A2014, A1895 and A1983 are this one.
Stand it on a sheet of letter paper. The 12.9-inch hangs off the page on the long side and feels heavy the second you pick it up in one hand. The 11-inch fits the page and does not. Both are this iPad. A1876 is the WiFi only version. A2014 and A1895 are the WiFi + Cellular versions, and A1983 is that Cellular tablet as sold in mainland China. All four quote on this page. Read it off the back in the small print, or if that has rubbed away, open Settings, then General, then About, and tap the Model Number line to flip it from the long code to the A-number.
Yes. A crack moves the grade, it does not end the sale. A cracked 64GB still pays $28 and a cracked 1TB still pays $34. The rule reaches past the screen, so chips in the aluminum back and breaks in the small glass over the camera count the same way. Pick Faulty in the quote and the number holds when the iPad gets here.
Then it is Faulty. There is no Home button on this generation and no Touch ID hiding anywhere else, so Face ID failing means the iPad has lost its only biometric and the grade drops however clean the glass is. Lock it, lift it, look at it. If the padlock never opens on its own, you have your grade.
Faulty, and the same goes for a Service Battery message. There is no sliding scale in between. Anything from 80 percent upward is treated identically, so a battery at 81 and a battery at 100 grade the same. Settings, then Battery, shows you the health figure on current software. Older software does not report one at all on an iPad, so go by what the tablet does instead: an afternoon it cannot finish, a shutdown at 20 or 30 percent, or a Pro that only stays awake while it is on the charger.
It never pays less, and on this model the gap has an odd shape. At 64GB only the top two rows differ, by 12 dollars at Brand New and 10 at Flawless, while Good, Average, Fair and Faulty are level to the dollar. At 256GB it works the other way round: Brand New and Flawless are identical, and the money sits on the lower four rows at 10, 9, 6 and 2 dollars. At 512GB and 1TB every row carries something, 10 to 12 dollars through the upper grades and 2 dollars at Faulty. The highest number on this page, $257, is a sealed 1TB Cellular. iPads have no carrier lock, so whichever network it lived on makes no difference to us. Two things do change on a Cellular one: the IMEI has to be clean, and the nano-SIM tray has to still be in the edge.
That grades Faulty. A missing or damaged SIM tray forces Faulty, and this generation of Pro genuinely has one, so the rule applies here rather than being something we can wave off. Look along the right edge for the small oval with a pinhole. If the slot is empty, or the tray is bent or from another device, choose Faulty when you quote. WiFi models have no slot at all and the rule cannot touch them.
Not for cash, no. With no power we cannot test the tablet and cannot clear your data off it, and we will not buy something we can do neither of those to. Give it an hour on a USB-C charger before you decide, because a fully flat 2018 battery can look dead when it is not. If it stays dark, we will recycle it free or post it back free, your choice, and anything we recycle still gets the DoD-grade wipe.
Not while the payments are still running. A tablet on an installment plan or a lease counts as being under a financial obligation and sits outside what we can purchase. Clear the balance, own it outright, then come back and quote it like any other iPad.
No on both counts, and they are two separate things worth pulling apart.
Activation Lock has to be off, on every one of these, WiFi or Cellular. Signing out of iCloud and erasing the iPad is what turns it off.
The IMEI is the other half, and it only exists on Cellular models. It has to be clean, so anything reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a carrier, fails and we cannot take it. Settings, General, About shows the IMEI. A WiFi Pro has none, so this half does not apply to it.
It depends what you want out of it. An Apple trade-in pays in credit toward something new from Apple, and a carrier trade-in normally arrives as bill credit spread over a couple of years. Both of them need you to buy something else first.
A Buyback is money for the iPad on its own. It goes out the day the tablet clears inspection, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check, and nothing is tied to it. Get both numbers before you decide and compare what actually reaches you.
Color moves neither number. Silver and Space Gray pay the same to the dollar. Storage, condition and whether it has cellular are the three things that move it, and finish is not one of them.
Back it up first, then go to Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPad, and choose Erase All Content and Settings. It asks for your Apple Account password, and typing that in is the step that actually clears Activation Lock. There is a walkthrough on our device erasure guides page. For payment, pick one of four at checkout. A gift card is emailed and lands about 3 percent above the cash figure because the brands add a bonus on top.
