It’s logical that you would want to know whether you can toggle quickly back and forth between Grayscale and regular full colors without needing to go through all of the steps we mentioned.
You can actually toggle Grayscale off and on without having to go through your iPhone’s settings. All you need to do is trip-click either your iPhone’s Home or Side button, depending on which model you have. That triple tap might feel a little strange the first time you do it, but you should quickly get used to it.
You can also use the Accessibility menu and then hit Accessibility Shortcut. There, you can select Color Filters.

It makes sense to wonder whether there’s ever a scenario where Grayscale might not work on your iPhone, but this is one of the settings that is pretty reliable. Virtually no iPhone users complain about Grayscale not working. However, you might occasionally have a situation where your iPhone display has gone to black and white, even if you didn’t ask for that in the settings.
Low Battery and Jailbreaking Your Device
What’s going on with your phone if this happens? Usually, you have a low battery. If you do, that could make your phone’s display show up as black and white. You can plug your phone into a power outlet and charge it. That should fix the problem.
