Your carrier would call a figure like that a trade-in and hand it back as bill credit. We call ours a Buyback, because we buy the phone outright and the money is yours to spend anywhere.
Unlocked is the ceiling on this model. We checked every grade at every capacity, and an unlocked iPhone 13 pays more than the same phone locked to AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon or anyone else, every time. If yours is unlocked, say so. If it is not, pick the carrier it really runs on, because a locked phone is priced on its own and guessing costs you.
The iPhone 13 has one problem that decides more prices than wear does. Apple pairs the display to the phone at the factory on this generation. Change the screen and Face ID can die with it, even when the replacement is a real Apple panel.
Test it now, before you pick a grade. Open Settings, tap Face ID and Passcode, and try to open the phone with your face. A phone you have carried for years already knows your face. If it asks to set Face ID up from scratch, or setup stalls halfway, the sensor is gone. Then open Settings, General, About and scroll to the last line. A note there saying the display cannot be verified as a genuine Apple part means somebody has been inside the phone.
Either result grades it Faulty, and they are two separate rules. Face ID that does not work forces Faulty on its own. A replaced or aftermarket display forces Faulty on its own. One rushed repair can trip both at once. We still buy the phone at the Faulty price, which is honest money for a phone with a hidden fault. What costs you is quoting it as Good and finding out at inspection.

A person inspects your iPhone 13 within 48 hours of it landing. Match the description and the money leaves the same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Yes, and unlocked is the one that pays most. That holds at every grade and every capacity on the iPhone 13. A Flawless 512GB unlocked pays $220, while the same phone on T-Mobile pays $160. AT&T, Verizon and other carriers all land below the unlocked number too.
How big the gap gets changes with grade and capacity, so there is no single figure to quote. Select the carrier the phone actually runs on and read the number. Guessing costs you either way.
Look at the two rear lenses. On the iPhone 13 they sit on a diagonal, one up and to the left of the other. On the iPhone 12 they are stacked straight up and down. The notch at the top of the screen is narrower on the 13 too, though that is easier to see with both phones in front of you. The lenses are the quick answer.

Yes, at the Faulty price. A replaced or aftermarket display grades Faulty on every phone we buy, and the iPhone 13 is stricter about it than most because of the way the screen is paired to the phone.
It holds even when the glass is perfect and Face ID still works. If a shop has been inside the phone, grade it Faulty and the quote will be right the first time.
It means the screen is not the one the phone left the factory with. Apple started showing that line on the iPhone 13 generation. For us it settles the grade: the phone is Faulty. The message is useful because it survives a tidy repair job that leaves no visible trace. Not every swap triggers it, so its absence does not prove the screen is original.
Face ID that does not work is a Faulty grade, on its own, whatever caused it. That includes a dot projector damaged in a drop and a sensor lost during a screen repair.
Check by opening Settings, then Face ID and Passcode. If the phone offers to set up a face from scratch on a device you have owned for years, it is not working. Try a setup and see whether it completes. Faulty is still a payout, so this is a grading question rather than a rejection.
Yes. A crack or a chip anywhere, front, back or over the lenses, grades the phone Faulty, and Faulty carries a price: $47 for a 128GB, $60 for a 512GB. No exceptions and no arguments about how small the crack is. Send it in cracked, get paid for it cracked.
Under 80 percent means Faulty. So does a service battery warning. Look in Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health and Charging, and read Maximum Capacity. At 80 percent or above the battery does not touch your grade at all. This is worth checking on a 2021 phone, because plenty of them have crossed that line by now without their owner noticing.
Not for money, and here is why. A dead phone cannot be switched on, so it cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it. Paying for something we are unable to open is not a risk we take. Plug it into a wall charger for half an hour first, because a flat battery looks identical to a dead phone. If it stays dark, send it in anyway and we will either recycle it free or mail it back to you free, whichever you prefer.
Not until the balance is gone. A phone still running on carrier installments or a lease is a device under a financial obligation, and those are ones we cannot take. Settle it with your carrier and the phone quotes on this page like any other.
No. A clean ESN is a condition of every grade we offer, right down to Faulty. That rules out phones reported lost or stolen, phones a carrier has blocked over an unpaid bill, and phones still signed in to somebody's Apple Account. The Apple Account one is usually a five minute fix: sign out in Settings before you ship. The blacklist ones are not fixable by us.
A trade-in is credit against a new phone or a new plan, and it usually comes back as bill credit spread over 24 or 36 months. Leave the carrier early and the rest of it stops. A Buyback is money for the iPhone 13 on its own, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check, and the price is held for 14 days.

Copy anything you want to keep first, to iCloud or a computer. Then sign out of your Apple Account in Settings, which is what turns Find My off, and use Erase All Content and Settings. Four ways. A gift card is emailed and works out about 3 percent above the cash figure, since a lot of brands add a bonus on top. PayPal arrives instantly and PayPal takes its 2.99 percent fee. A bank transfer takes 2 to 4 days. A check takes 3 to 5.
Payment leaves the day your phone clears inspection. One thing to watch: a Brand New iPhone 13, meaning sealed and never activated, can only be paid through PayPal. Every other grade can use all four.
