Yes, and this is the one iPad family where the question bites. The M5 Pro uses a tandem OLED panel. Every other iPad we buy uses an LCD, and an LCD can't burn in. So the rule reaches the Pro and nothing else on the site.

Burn-in is a faint ghost of something the screen held for a long time. On an iPad it's usually the dock, the status bar, or the keyboard outline. Tandem OLED resists it far better than older panels did. Resistant isn't immune. A year of high brightness can still leave a mark.

Here's the test. Turn Dark Mode off in Settings, Display and Brightness. Open Notes and start a new blank note. Tap once so the keyboard drops away. Push brightness most of the way up. You now have a full white screen.

Take it into a dim room and tilt it slowly. You're looking for a faint outline where the keyboard sat. A grey band across the top counts too. Daylight hides all of this, which is why the room matters. A dead or stuck pixel counts as well.

Activation Lock has to be off. That one applies to every iPad Pro 13-inch (M5), WiFi or Cellular. Sign out of iCloud on the tablet. You can also remove it from your Apple account at icloud.com/find. An iPad still signed in when it reaches us can't be purchased.

The IMEI has to be clean. That one applies to Cellular models only. A WiFi iPad has no IMEI at all. A tablet that's blacklisted, reported lost or stolen, or carrier blocked can't be purchased either.

A Cellular iPad can clear Activation Lock and still fail on a blocked IMEI. We find that at inspection, so ask your carrier before you mail it.

Back it up first, to iCloud or to a computer. Then sign out of iCloud so Find My switches off. Erase the iPad in Settings. Our Device Erasure Guides walk you through it.

It does change how you check for wear. The coating is etched into the glass. It marks more easily than a normal screen. Wipe it with a dry cloth, then look across it under a lamp. Fine swirls that survive the wipe are wear. Wear moves you down a grade.

Cracks are still Faulty, coating or no coating.
