A Buyback runs off a published grid, and the awkward part of publishing one is that the figures which make no sense go up alongside the ones that flatter us. There is one of those on this page. Cellular normally pays more than WiFi, and at 2TB on this model it currently pays less. We could leave that out and almost nobody would notice. It is called out twice below instead, because a grid you can only trust where it happens to look sensible is not worth printing.
On WiFi the numbers run from $45 for a 128GB with a break in the glass to $476 for a 2TB still in its shrink wrap. The other twenty eight cells are all in the table, before you get to the cellular column at all.
Good means light wear you cannot pick out at arm's length, which is where most of these land after a few years of living in a keyboard case. Used, scratched, cracked or dead, we put a number on all of them.
This is the iPad Pro that got thicker.
The 2020 12.9-inch was 5.9 mm and 1.41 pounds. This one is 6.4 mm and 1.5 pounds. Half a millimeter sounds like nothing, and it was enough that Apple had to publish a warning about it: the Magic Keyboard built for the 2020 12.9-inch iPad Pro may not precisely fit when closed on this one, especially with a screen protector on the glass. That is why Apple ended up selling two different 12.9-inch Magic Keyboards.
The half millimeter bought the mini-LED screen, and the screen is where sellers grade themselves wrong.
Put a black photo up full screen. You may see a faint glow around anything bright in the picture, or a slight blur when you scroll on a black background. Apple calls that normal for this panel. It is the backlight zones being bigger than the pixels, not damage. It is not burn-in. Burn-in is a ghost of an old image that stays put when the picture changes, and burn-in does force Faulty. A glow that moves with the picture does not. Do not knock yourself down a grade over it.
Check which 12.9-inch you are holding before you quote. Turn it over and read the small print. A2378, A2461, A2379 or A2462 means you are on the right page. Anything else is a different tablet, and the two nearest ones have their own prices: the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) from 2020 and the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation) from 2022.
The table below is WiFi. A WiFi + Cellular 12.9-inch pays more at 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, by amounts that jump from column to column rather than climbing with the storage, and at 2TB it is the exception this page opened with. The per-size figures are in the questions below, so check your own tablet both ways rather than assuming.

A prepaid USPS label lands in your inbox. Before you box it up, sign out of iCloud so Activation Lock is off, then erase the iPad. Leave the Magic Keyboard, the Apple Pencil and the case at home. We cannot pay for any of them, and the keyboard is worth more to you than to us.
Your iPad clears inspection within 48 hours of arriving. Match the description and payment goes out the same day, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every tablet gets a DoD-grade wipe on arrival, whether we buy it or recycle it.

Storage, connectivity and wear decide it. A 512GB WiFi in Good condition is $275. The same tablet with wear you can feel is Fair, and Fair pays $165. A 128GB with a cracked screen still pays $45. Put your exact one through the quote box at the top of this page for the real number.
The A-number on the back settles it, and nothing else really does, because the two look almost identical. A2378, A2461, A2379 and A2462 are this 2021 model. The 2020 one is a different tablet with different prices and it lives on our iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) page. Two other tells if the back is scuffed: this one is a hair thicker and heavier in the hand, and its screen is mini-LED, so a bright object on a black background gets a soft halo around it.
A2378 is the WiFi only iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation). A2461 is the WiFi + Cellular one. A2379 is the Cellular version with mmWave. A2462 is the Cellular version sold in mainland China. All four are the same tablet to us and all four quote on this page. If the back cover is worn smooth, open Settings, tap General, then About, and look at Model Number. If what you see starts with M or F, tap it once and it flips to the A-number.
Almost certainly not. This is the mini-LED screen doing what mini-LED screens do. The lighting zones behind the glass are bigger than the pixels in front of them, so a white cursor on a black page gets a soft halo, and scrolling on black can look slightly blurred for a moment. Apple describes both as normal behavior for this display.
Burn-in is different and you can test for it in ten seconds. Burn-in is a ghost of something that used to be on screen, a keyboard outline or a status bar, and it stays exactly where it is when you change the picture. If it moves with the image, it is the backlight and your grade is unaffected. If it stays put, that is burn-in and the tablet grades Faulty, which is still a price on the table above.
Yes. Any crack or chip, front, back or over the camera lenses, moves it to Faulty. That is a price and not a refusal. A 256GB in that state is $49 and a 2TB is $75. Choose Faulty when you quote and nothing changes when it reaches our bench.
Then it grades Faulty, even if the glass is spotless. There is no Home button on this model and no Touch ID anywhere on it, so Face ID is the only biometric it has, and a dead one is a fault. Test it properly before you pick a grade: lock the iPad, pick it up, and look at it straight on in decent light. If it will not let you in, quote it as Faulty.
That is Faulty pricing. Same answer if the iPad is throwing a service battery message at you. The rest of the tablet can be immaculate and it does not change the grade. Pick Faulty at the quote step and the figure you saw is the figure you get. If you cannot find a health figure to read on yours, go by what the tablet does: a Pro that will not see out a working morning off the charger, or that shuts itself down somewhere in the twenties, is under the line.
Not for money, and the reason is practical rather than fussy. A tablet with no power cannot be tested and your data cannot be wiped off it, so we will not put a price on it. Before you give up on it, plug it into a wall adapter with a cable you know works and leave it half an hour, because a dead cable looks exactly like a dead iPad. If it is genuinely gone, send it in anyway. We recycle it free, wipe it to DoD standards on the way, and mail it back free instead if you would rather have it.
Not while there is a balance on it. An iPad still running on a monthly plan or a lease counts as being under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Settle it, own it outright, then quote it like any other tablet.
No, and iCloud locked is worth pulling apart, because it is two separate checks rather than one.
First, Activation Lock has to be off. That applies to every one of these, WiFi or Cellular. Signing out of iCloud and erasing the iPad is what turns it off, and doing it before you mail it is the difference between getting paid and getting your tablet posted back.
Second, the IMEI has to be clean, and that check only touches WiFi + Cellular models, because a WiFi iPad has no IMEI at all. Anything reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a carrier, fails there and we have to turn it down. Yours is in Settings, General, About if you want to check it first.
At 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, yes, but the size of the gap moves around more than on any other iPad we price. It is largest at 1TB, 25 to 30 dollars through the upper grades and 6 at Faulty. It is 15 to 17 dollars at 128GB, and only 10 or 11 at 256GB and 512GB, which is less than the smaller tablet underneath them. A 1TB in Good condition is $345 with Cellular against $315 on WiFi. The table on this page shows WiFi, so if yours has a SIM tray in the edge, switch the quote over and watch it climb. There is no carrier lock on an iPad, so whichever network it was on makes no difference to us. The 2TB tier is the odd one out at the moment, with Cellular quoting under WiFi, so check that one both ways in the quote box.
Keep all of it. Accessories are not priced into the quote, so nothing you add to the box adds to your payout, and things that travel loose in a box are things that get lost. The Magic Keyboard is worth real money on its own, and if it is the one built for this thicker 2021 model it is the harder of the two to replace, so it is worth more in your hands than in ours. Send the iPad by itself. You do not need to include the charger either.
No. Silver and Space Gray were the only two Apple made, and they quote identically. Choose your storage and your grade and forget the finish.
Open Settings, tap General, then Transfer or Reset iPad, then Erase All Content and Settings. It asks for your Apple Account password, and typing that in is the step that actually switches Activation Lock off. Do that while the iPad is still with you.
