SPEC SHEET
The iPad Air 5 shipped alone in March 2022. From the front it's a twin of the iPad Air 4. Read the model number in Settings, General, About. A2588 and A2589 are Air 5 only. The iPad Air 11" (M2) came next. It has no SIM tray at all, and its front camera sits on the long edge. Apple sold a larger iPad Air 13" (M2) alongside it.

IPAD AIR 5 QUESTIONS

Not the same thing at all. A trade-in comes from Apple or a carrier. It arrives as credit against something new, so the money stays inside their shop, and on a plan it can arrive in monthly slices rather than all at once.
A Buyback is a straight purchase. We take the iPad and pay via gift card, PayPal, bank transfer, or check. You can spend that anywhere. Get both numbers and take the one that is worth more to you.
Start here. Apple, a phone kiosk and the usual marketplaces will all take it too. Pull our number out of the quote tool and set it against theirs.
The Air 5 was the first Air with 5G. On Cellular models, that brought a physical nano-SIM tray. That little tray is a graded part.
Test it before you pick a grade. Push a paperclip into the pinhole and slide the tray out. Take your SIM card. Push the tray back until it sits flush. Do it gently and look at the tray in the light.
A missing tray grades the iPad Faulty. So does a bent one, or one that won't sit level. The tray belongs to the tablet. Send the tray, and keep the SIM card.
There's a second Cellular-only detail. Cellular models carry an IMEI, and we check it. WiFi models have neither the tray nor the IMEI, so neither test reaches them.
None of this is a reason to keep the iPad. Faulty is a real price in the grid, and we buy at it.
Yes, at the Faulty price. Any crack or chip does it, front, back or lens cover. So does a bent frame or an engraving.
We buy Faulty tablets every day. The one thing that stops us is a device that won't power on.
We can't. A tablet with no power can't be tested, and your data can't be cleared off it. Neither of those is something we'll skip. Send it in for free recycling, or ask for it back and we'll cover the postage.
Under 80 percent means the iPad grades Faulty. Settings, then Battery, shows you the health figure on current software. If your iPad is on older software, no figure appears there.
You can still judge it. Charge to full, use the tablet for an hour, and see what's gone. A worn battery drops fast, gets hot on the charger, or cuts out early. Grade it Faulty.
At 80 percent and above, the battery has no effect on your grade.
The sooner the better. Prices drop hardest in the weeks after Apple announces the next iPad.
The drawer is not a safe place either. Batteries age while nothing is happening, and under 80 percent the tablet grades Faulty.

To check which you own, open Settings, General, About. An IMEI and a Cellular Data line mean Cellular. No IMEI means WiFi.
Your carrier will make an offer too, normally as bill credit. Ours is $165 for a Good 64GB on WiFi, in cash, the day we finish checking it.
No. We don't purchase devices under financial obligations. Pay off the installment plan or the lease. Then we can quote it normally.
No. Two separate things have to be true on a tablet. Most people only hear about the first.
One, Activation Lock has to be off. Every iPad Air 5 has to pass this, WiFi or Cellular. Signing out of iCloud on the tablet is what clears it.
Two, the IMEI has to be clean, and only Cellular models have one. A WiFi iPad Air 5 has no IMEI at all, so there's nothing to be blocked. A Cellular iPad reported lost or stolen is out. So is one a carrier has blocked.
Yes, but it grades Faulty. A replaced or aftermarket display drops it to Faulty. That holds when the screen looks perfect.
Repair shops don't always leave a mark you can see. If anyone has been inside the iPad, grade it Faulty and the number stays put.
Keep them. Our quote is for the iPad Air 5 alone, and accessories aren't priced into it. A 2nd generation Apple Pencil, a Magic Keyboard or a Smart Folio adds nothing. Nor does the charger.
We can't pay for extras, and we can't promise to send them home again. Sell them yourself or use them with your next tablet.
Back up whatever you want to keep. Then sign out of iCloud. That turns Find My off and clears Activation Lock. Now erase the iPad in Settings. Our Device Erasure Guides walk through every step.
