A Galaxy S20+ 5G tops out at $91 today, and that is a 512GB still sealed in its box. The 256GB column is not paying anything at the moment, so put your size through the quote box before you print a label. This is a 2020 phone and those are 2020 phone numbers. We are not going to dress that up, and the table below shows you every row of it.
One thing to be clear about before you read that table: none of it depends on what you buy next. A carrier trade-in is a discount on a new handset wearing a different name. A Buyback is us purchasing this one, and the number stands whether your next phone is a Samsung, an iPhone or nothing at all.
Now turn the phone over and count the circles.
There are four. Three of them are cameras you use every day: the ultra wide, the main camera and the 64MP telephoto. The fourth, the small one, is DepthVision. It is not a camera in the sense you are used to. It fires infrared light out and measures how long it takes to come back, which is how the phone works out what is near and what is far when you shoot a portrait. That is also what separates this phone from the plain Galaxy S20, which only has three.
Here is why it matters to your price. There is no button in the camera app that switches to the DepthVision sensor. You cannot tap 0.5x or 3x and see it working, because there is nothing to see. It is the one part of this phone you cannot test by using it.
But it sits behind glass, the same as the other three. And a chip in glass is Faulty, whatever is underneath it. So people run a check over the three lenses they know, skip the fourth because it is not really a camera, and miss the one chip that moves them to the bottom row of the table.
So check all four, and do it by ear rather than by eye. Take the case off, sit somewhere quiet, and drag the flat of a thumbnail slowly across each cover in turn. Intact glass is silent, and your nail glides. A chip has an edge, and an edge ticks. You will hear it before you see it, which is the point, because a chip in a cover that small is close to invisible under a room light.
Everything else about the grade is the ordinary stuff: no cracks anywhere, front or back, and every part of the phone doing its job. On a Samsung that second one is a principle rather than a list. If something on the phone has stopped working, the phone is Faulty, however clean it looks.

HOW IT WORKS
Pick your size, your network and your grade. Do the thumbnail pass over all four camera covers before you choose the grade, including the small fourth one, because that is the check people skip and it is the one that moves the number furthest. Accept the quote and it is held for 14 days.
We email you a prepaid USPS label. Take your Google account off the phone, then factory reset it, then pad the camera block as well as the screen when you box it, since that is the part standing proudest of the back. No need to send the charger, the cable or a memory card.
A person checks it by hand within 48 hours of arrival, and we tell you what we found. Match the description and the money leaves the same day. Every device is wiped to Department of Defense standards on arrival, including the ones that go to free recycling.

Grade decides nearly all of it. At 512GB, Flawless is $91, Good is $71, Average is $62, Fair is $43 and a cracked one is $14. A 128GB pays the same from Good down. The quote box at the top of the page gives you the exact number for your size, your network and your grade.
Count the circles on the back. Four means the Galaxy S20+, and the extra one is DepthVision. Three means the Galaxy S20 5G, which never had that sensor. Size backs it up, 6.7 inches here against 6.2 there, and 186 grams against 163. If it has four circles but zooms much further than 30x, you are holding the Galaxy S20 Ultra instead.
It is the DepthVision sensor. It throws out infrared light and times how long it takes to bounce back, which tells the phone how far away everything in the frame is. That is what makes the background blur in Live focus look convincing. It takes no photos of its own, which is why nothing in the camera app ever switches to it.
Almost certainly not, and there is nothing on the phone that will tell you either way. It is a sensor rather than a camera, so it has no zoom step and no mode of its own. You cannot make it show you anything, so do not sit there hunting for a button that was never there and do not grade the phone down over it.
Yes, and all three land in the same place. A crack or a chip anywhere puts the phone in Faulty, which at 512GB is $14, and it does not matter that the phone works perfectly. Check the camera covers by ear: drag a thumbnail over each of the four in a quiet room, and a chip ticks where intact glass is silent. Peel the screen protector off first, because a cracked protector over a good screen fools people constantly.
Yes, and it drops the phone to Faulty. Every Galaxy S has an OLED panel, and after six years of the same clock in the same pixels a ghost is a real possibility rather than a theoretical one. Quick version: brightness up, plain white image, dim room, tilt the phone and look across it for the shape of the clock or the navigation bar. Less than you would think. A 128GB and a 512GB pay the same at Good, Average, Fair and Faulty. The only rows where the bigger phone earns anything extra are Brand New and Flawless, and it is five dollars: $91 against $86. So do not lose sleep over the capacity. Get the grade right instead.
It does, and unlocked is where you want to be. A Good 128GB is 71 dollars unlocked, against 66 on AT&T, 51 on T-Mobile, 50 on Verizon and 36 on Other. At 512GB the top is closer: unlocked and AT&T are level at 71 dollars for a Good one, with T-Mobile at 66, Verizon at 53 and Other at 36. So on a 512GB with AT&T there is nothing to gain by getting it released, and on every other combination there is.
No. Samsung phones have no battery health threshold in our grading, so there is no 80 percent line here and no percentage worth chasing. If the battery has genuinely failed, that is a part of the phone that has stopped working, and the functionality rule handles it like any other dead part. A tired six year old battery that still gets through the day changes nothing.
Not for a payment. With no power we cannot test it, and more to the point we cannot clear your data off it, and neither of those is something we will guess at. We will recycle it for free with a Department of Defense grade wipe, or post it back to you for free. Both cost you nothing, and on a phone this age recycling is often the sensible answer.
No, not while there is a balance on it. A handset still on an installment plan or a lease counts as being under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Settle it with the carrier and the phone quotes normally the same day.
No to all of it, and they are separate checks. Reported lost or stolen, blacklisted or carrier blocked is a no. A Google account lock or FRP lock is a no, because nobody after you can get past it. A tripped Knox counter is a no as well. The order that avoids the FRP problem is simple: remove your Google account first, then factory reset.
On a phone this old, rarely, and the shape of it matters as much as the size. Carrier credit arrives in monthly slices against your bill, usually across 24 or 36 months, and it evaporates if you leave. Remove the Google account first, then reset, in that order. Settings, Accounts and backup, Manage accounts, remove the account, then Settings, General management, Reset, Factory data reset.
