SELL YOUR GALAXY S20 5G
A Galaxy S20 5G is worth between $12 and $71. The low end is a phone with a crack in it. The high end is one still sealed in its box. There is only one storage size to think about here, so the whole spread comes down to the state of the phone and the network it is locked to, and the table below sets out every step of it.
A carrier trade-in and a Buyback are not the same transaction. This works more like selling the phone to a neighbor, except the neighbor is a company with a bank account and a data wipe policy. The money is money, it arrives once, and there is no discount code with conditions printed underneath.
Most of this number rides on the glass, and on this phone the glass is a slightly awkward shape.
Look at the Galaxy S20 5G edge on. The screen does not run flat to the frame. It curves over both long sides and folds down into the metal, which is why the phone feels narrower than it is. That curve is the first thing a table edge or a set of car keys reaches, so it takes the chips, and a case rim sits right on top of it and hides them.
So take the case off before you grade it. Run a fingernail down the whole length of each curve and around all four corners, slowly. A mark it slides over is a scratch and you are still in Average or Fair. A line it drops into is a crack, and a crack anywhere puts the phone in Faulty even if the screen is bright and the touch works perfectly. That one step costs about four fifths of the payout, so it is worth the thirty seconds.
Burn-in lands the same way. Every Galaxy S has an OLED screen, and after six years of the same clock sitting in the same place, a ghost of it is a real possibility rather than a theoretical one. Brightness up, plain white image, dim room, tilt the phone and look across it. A faint clock at the top or the shape of the navigation bar at the bottom is burn-in, and burn-in is Faulty. Our Galaxy S23+ page has the longer version of the test, including what people mistake for it.
Make sure it is this phone and not one of its bigger siblings. The Galaxy S20 5G is the small one, 6.2 inches and 163g, and it has three circles on the back. The Galaxy S20+ 5G and the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G both have a fourth, Samsung's DepthVision camera. There is also only one size of this phone. Samsung sold the US Galaxy S20 5G with 128GB and nothing else, so if Settings, About phone reports 256GB or 512GB you are holding a different model.
Every price here is unlocked, and unlocked is the top of the range on this phone. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all pay less than that, and the three figures are listed in the questions further down the page. Choose the network the phone is actually locked to when you quote it, and if it is paid off, ask the carrier to release it before you sell.
People search sell my Galaxy S20 5G and sell used Galaxy S20 5G and get a wall of the same promises back. Where to sell a Galaxy S20 5G comes down to who inspects it honestly, because at this price a quiet re-grade at the far end takes most of your money. We check every phone by hand, we tell you what we found, and if the answer changes we send it back free rather than paying you less than we said. If it will not switch on at all we cannot buy it, and we will recycle it for free instead.
LIVE PRICES
The used resale value of a Galaxy S20 5G runs from $12 for a cracked one up to $71 for a sealed one. Most phones this age sit in the middle.
There is one column because there is one size. Samsung built the US Galaxy S20 5G with 128GB only, and every figure here is for an unlocked phone, straight off our live price feed.
| Comparison row | 128GB |
|---|---|
Brand New | $71 |
Flawless | $71 |
Good | $61 |
Average | $54 |
Fair | $37 |
Faulty | $12 |
HOW IT WORKS
There is only one storage size to pick, so this is a question of network and condition. Take the case off and check both curved edges before you choose a grade, since that is where the damage that changes your price tends to hide. Accept the number and it is locked for 14 days.
A prepaid USPS label lands in your inbox. Sign out of your Google account, factory reset the phone, and wrap it so the screen edges are padded. There is no need to send the charger, the cable or the case, because none of them is priced in and we would rather you kept them.
We inspect within 48 hours of the phone arriving. Matching the description means the money goes out that day, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check, whichever you picked. Every phone is wiped to Department of Defense standards, including the ones we recycle rather than buy.

GALAXY S20 5G BUYBACK QUESTIONS
Condition and network decide it, because there is only one storage size. Flawless is $71, Good is $61, Average is $54 and a phone with a crack in it is $12. The quote box at the top of the page gives you your exact figure.
Count the circles on the back. Three means the Galaxy S20 5G. Four means the Galaxy S20+ 5G, where the extra one is the DepthVision camera. Size settles it too: this phone is 6.2 inches and the Plus is 6.7. And storage is a giveaway, since the S20 came in one size here and the Plus did not.
Light wear that you cannot see from arm's length. Hold it out and look at it normally: if nothing jumps out, it is Good. Average is a step down, marks you can see up close but cannot feel with a fingernail. Fair is heavy wear you can feel, with the glass still whole. The moment there is a crack or a chip anywhere, none of those apply and the phone is Faulty.
It counts. The curve is glass like the rest of the screen and a chip in it is a chip in the screen, so the phone grades Faulty even though it works. This catches Galaxy S20 owners more than most, because a case rim covers exactly that strip and you can carry a chipped phone for months without seeing it. Take the case off and run a fingernail down both edges before you pick a grade.
Yes, and it is a price rather than a refusal. A cracked Galaxy S20 5G pays $12. Pick Faulty in the quote box, send it in as it is, and the number does not move when we open the box. Do not have it repaired first hoping to climb a grade, because an aftermarket screen is not worth what the repair costs on a phone at this price.
Burn-in is Faulty. It is not a judgment call about how bad it looks, it is a yes or no. Put a plain white image up at full brightness in a dim room and look across the panel at an angle. A ghost of the clock, the status icons or the navigation bar is burn-in. A single stuck pixel is not, and neither is the color shifting slightly when you tilt an OLED screen. The full walkthrough is on our Galaxy S23+ page.
No, and there is no percentage to check. Samsung phones do not carry a battery health threshold in our grading, so nothing you find in Settings changes your quote. A six year old battery that fades by evening is ordinary. The only version of this that matters is a battery that has actually stopped doing its job, and then the phone is Faulty for the same reason anything broken is.
Yes, and unlocked wins. At Good, an unlocked Galaxy S20 5G is $61 against $56 on AT&T, $46 on T-Mobile and $42 on Verizon. If your phone is out of contract and paid off, ask your carrier to release it before you sell, then quote it as unlocked.
Not for cash. With no power we cannot test it and, more importantly, we cannot clear your data off it, and we are not willing to buy a phone we cannot wipe. Send it in anyway if you like. Recycling is free, the shipping is free, and it still gets a Department of Defense grade wipe when the data is recoverable. Or say the word and it comes straight back to you.
No. A phone with an installment plan or a lease still running against it is under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase those. Settle it with the carrier and the phone quotes normally the same day.
Then we cannot buy it, whatever condition it is in. A phone reported lost or stolen, blacklisted or blocked by a carrier fails the IMEI check on arrival. A Google account lock or FRP lock means the phone will not set up for anybody but you, so sign out before you send it. A tripped Knox counter is the third one, and it cannot be reset.
Settings, About phone, Model number will tell you. SM-G981U is the version sold through the carriers and SM-G981U1 is the unlocked one Samsung sold directly. Both are the Galaxy S20 5G and both are priced on this page. The letter after the number does not change your quote, though what the phone is locked to does.
None. Cosmic Gray, Cloud Blue and Cloud Pink are worth exactly the same, and so is any color Samsung sold elsewhere. Nobody pays extra for a shade of gray.
Payment comes as a gift card, which averages around 3 percent more because the brands top it up, or through PayPal instantly with PayPal's 2.99 percent fee, or by bank transfer in 2 to 4 days, or as a check in 3 to 5. Before you send it, sign out of your Google account and then factory reset it. Our erasing guide walks through both steps. Your photos, messages and saved passwords are erased on arrival to Department of Defense standards, and they cannot be recovered afterwards.
One size, six grades, five networks. It takes about a minute, and the number holds for 14 days once you accept it.
