If something did break, the phone is Faulty, and Faulty has a price on this page. Test it rather than guessing. Record a voice memo, play it back on the earpiece, then on the loudspeaker, then ring somebody. Muffled sound, crackling, a mic that nobody can hear or a speaker that will not go loud all count as a part that has stopped working.

Not in the way people hope. Those ratings describe a new phone tested in a lab, not a used one that has been dropped, opened, or charged a couple of thousand times. Seals age and adhesive loses its grip. Motorola themselves treat water resistance as a design feature rather than a guarantee. For grading purposes we ignore the rating entirely and look at whether the phone works, because that is the only thing that changes what we pay.

Good is light wear that you would not pick out holding the phone at arm's length. Get closer and you might find a faint mark or two, and that is fine. Above it, Flawless means no marks at all under a lamp with the case off. Below it, Average is wear you can see but cannot feel with a fingernail, and Fair is heavy wear you can feel, with no cracks or chips. Faulty is its own category: any crack, any chip, and anything that has stopped working.

Yes. Any crack or chip, anywhere on the phone, puts it in Faulty, and that is a grade rather than a refusal. Gorilla Glass 7i is tougher than what Motorola used on the earlier Edges, but tougher is not unbreakable and a crack is a crack. Check with a fingernail rather than your eyes, since a hairline you cannot see will still catch. Quote it as Faulty and nothing changes when it arrives here.

It does, and this is the part people find harsh until it is explained. The rule on Android phones is not a list of specific faults, it is a principle: if something on the phone does not work, the phone is Faulty. A crackling earpiece is a broken part in exactly the same way a dead button is. The upside is that it is simple, and there is nothing hidden in it. Pick Faulty, take the price, and there is no surprise at inspection.

No. There is no battery threshold on this phone, we do not quote a percentage, and there is nothing you need to go and look up. The 5200mAh cell only affects your grade if it has actually failed, in which case it falls under the same rule as any other broken part. Everyday capacity loss on a 2025 phone is expected and is not a fault.

It can, because this is a pOLED screen, though it is uncommon on a phone this new. Burn-in means a permanent ghost of the clock, the status bar or the navigation bar. It grades Faulty. Two quick tells before you check the model number. This is the only Edge with three rear cameras and a screen sharper than 1080p, at 1220 by 2712, and it is the only one that runs at 120Hz rather than 144. For certainty, open Settings, then About phone: XT2519 is the 2025. XT2405 is the Edge (2024), and XT2305 is the Edge (2023). Each has its own page and its own prices.

That is the one case where we have to say no. A phone with no power cannot be tested, and your photos, messages and saved passwords cannot be erased from it, which is the real reason. The Google account lock is fixable and it is on you to fix it. Remove your account under Settings, Passwords and accounts, and do that before you reset the phone. In the wrong order the phone locks itself against your own account and it cannot be set up by anyone.

Account first, then wipe. Settings, Passwords and accounts, remove your Google account. Then Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data. No need. Nothing is required in the box on a Motorola, so the 68W charger, the cable and the case stay with you. None of them are priced into your Buyback, and every extra item in the parcel is one more thing that can go missing. Send the phone alone, with the SIM taken out.

On a phone this recent, a carrier promotion sometimes will be, and it is worth ten minutes to check. The catch is the shape of it: bill credits paid out monthly over two or three years, usually tied to opening a line and to you not leaving.
