A Pixel 9 Pro is worth between $46 and $345, depending on how much storage it has and what shape it is in. People call this a trade-in. We call it a Buyback: we buy the phone, you get paid, and nothing is tied to your next handset or your phone bill.
Before any of that, make sure you are on the right page, because the Pixel 9 Pro is the one model in the family that gets mixed up in both directions.
Look at the camera bar first. A Pixel 9 Pro has three lenses in it. The plain Pixel 9 has two, and that is the only thing you can see from the outside, because the two phones are the same height, the same width and within a gram of the same weight. Nobody can tell them apart in a photo. Counting lenses takes a second and settles it.
Then check the size. The Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL are the same phone built at two sizes, same three cameras, same chip, same software. The Pro is 6.0 inches tall and 7.0 oz. The XL is 6.4 inches and 7.8 oz. If you would rather not guess, open Settings, then About phone, and read the Model line. A US Pixel 9 Pro says GR83Y. Google prints that code on the box and not on the phone, so once the box is gone the Settings screen is the only place it lives.
Grading is quicker than identifying. Any crack or chip is Faulty, including the small glass windows over each of the three lenses, and that holds even when the phone works perfectly. Burn-in on the screen is Faulty. Anything that has stopped working is Faulty, because the rule on every Android phone we buy is a principle rather than a list: if it does not work, the phone is Faulty. Worth aiming the camera at something across the room and tapping 5x while you are in there, since a long lens that will not engage is a fault the owner rarely notices.
There is no battery rule here. No 80 percent line, no percentage, no screen in a Pixel to go and read. We buy used Pixel 9 Pros, including cracked and broken ones, and the label out and the return back are both free.

A 256GB with light wear pays $226, and the same phone at 512GB pays $244. Average is the grade most two year old phones land in: it has been used, but you cannot catch a fingernail on anything. Keep it cleaner than that and a 256GB is $260.
Count the lenses in the camera bar. Three means Pro. Two means the plain Pixel 9, which is worth knowing because the two phones are otherwise the same size and the same weight, so nothing else about the outside will tell you. The Pro also came in 512GB and 1TB, sizes the plain Pixel 9 was never sold in, so a big storage reading settles it too. If yours has two lenses, our Pixel 9 page is the one you want.
They are the same phone at two sizes. Put a tape measure on it: 6.0 inches tall is the Pro, 6.4 inches is the XL, and there is nearly an ounce between them. Settings, About phone, Model reads GR83Y on a US Pro and GGX8B on a US XL. The XL pays more at every capacity, so it is worth thirty seconds to be sure. Its numbers are on our Pixel 9 Pro XL page.
Light wear you can see but cannot feel. Hold the phone under a lamp and look across the glass and the frame at a shallow angle. Faint marks that your fingernail glides over are Average. If a nail catches in something, that is heavier wear and the honest grade is Fair. Cracks are neither of those, they are Faulty on their own.
Yes, at the Faulty price, and both count the same. The glass over each of the three lenses is glass like any other, so a chip in one grades exactly like a cracked screen. A Faulty 256GB pays $52. Run a fingernail around each lens window before you decide, since a chip there is easy to look straight past for months.
Then the phone is Faulty, the same as any other part that has stopped working. Test it in ten seconds: open the camera, point at something across the room and tap 5x. The framing should jump in close and stay sharp. If it stays wide, goes soft, or the app throws an error, the long lens is not engaging. Quote it as Faulty and send it anyway, because Faulty is a price rather than a refusal.
No. Android phones have no battery rule here at all, so there is no 80 percent threshold, no number to report and nothing in a Pixel's settings for you to find. Two years of charging shows up in every one of these phones and we price that in already. A battery that has actually died, so the phone shuts off or refuses to charge, is a functionality problem and follows that rule instead.
It grades Faulty. Every Pixel is OLED, so it can happen to this one, usually as a shadow of the status bar or the navigation bar that will not go away. Bright plain white in a dim room, tilted, is the quick version. We cannot put a price on one. A dead phone cannot be tested and, more importantly, the data on it cannot be erased, and we are not willing to buy something we cannot clear. Free recycling is open to you instead, wipe included, or we mail it back at our expense. Either way you are not out of pocket.
Not until it is paid off. Anything on carrier installments or a lease is under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase those. Settle the balance, then quote it, and it is treated like any other Pixel 9 Pro from that moment.
We cannot buy it. Three things get checked and all three have to be clear: the IMEI must not be blacklisted, carrier blocked or reported lost or stolen; the Google account must be signed out; and factory reset protection must be off, which is what removing the account before the reset achieves. A locked phone cannot be tested, so if one turns up we contact you and post it back free.
Yes, and unlocked is the best answer on this model at every grade and capacity. A Good 1TB is $305 unlocked against $208 on AT&T and $176 on Verizon. If your carrier will unlock the phone for you before you ship it, that is a worthwhile phone call.

Take the Google account off first: Settings, Passwords and accounts, choose the account, Remove account. Then Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data.
