Turn your Pixel 3a over and look at the top edge. There is a headphone jack up there. Google took the jack off the Pixel 3 and never put it back after the 3a and 3a XL, so a round hole in the top is the quickest way to know which phone you are holding.
It is also a working part, and working parts count. Plug in a pair of wired headphones and play something. Both sides should be clean and steady. Crackling, one dead channel, or sound that cuts when you wiggle the plug all mean the jack has stopped doing its job, and on an Android phone anything that has stopped working grades Faulty. Most of the time the cause is years of pocket lint packed into the hole, so look in there with a light before you decide.
Everything else follows the same rule. Sell a used Pixel 3a that works and you pick a wear grade. Sell a broken Pixel 3a and you pick Faulty, which is a price rather than a rejection. The one phone we cannot buy is one that will not power on, because it cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it. We recycle those free.

There is only one storage size to pick, so it comes down to your carrier and your grade. Test the headphone jack and the buttons before you choose, since a part that has stopped working changes the answer. The Buyback price you accept is yours for 14 days.
We send a prepaid USPS label to your inbox. Sign your Google account out of the phone, then factory reset it, in that order, so it does not turn up FRP locked. Nothing needs to come with it. No cable, no case, no box, and none of them would add to the price anyway.
The phone is inspected by hand inside 48 hours of reaching us. If it is what you said it was, your money goes out that same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every device gets a Department of Defense grade wipe on arrival, including the ones we only recycle.

PIXEL 3A BUYBACK QUESTIONS
Wear decides it, because there is only one storage size. In Average condition, meaning light wear you can see but cannot catch a fingernail on, a Pixel 3a is $7. Tidier than that and it is $9. Cracked or not working, it is $2. The quote tool at the top gives you your own number in about a minute.
Look at the top edge for a headphone jack. The 3a has one. The Pixel 3 does not, and neither does anything Google made after the 3a XL. Two more tells: the 3a has a plastic back that gives slightly under a fingernail, while the Pixel 3 is glass, and the 3a has no wireless charging. If it turns out to be the other one, the Pixel 3 page prices it separately.
Size, and only size. The 3a screen is 5.6 inches, the XL is 6.0, and side by side it is obvious. Both have the headphone jack, both are plastic backed, both were sold in 64GB only. If yours is the bigger one, quote it on the Pixel 3a XL page, where it pays a few dollars more.
Yes. The jack is a working part of the phone, and any part that has stopped working takes it to Faulty. Crackling, one channel missing, or sound that cuts when the plug moves all count.
Before you grade it down, though, shine a light into the hole. Years in a pocket pack these full of lint, and a compacted plug of fluff sounds exactly like a broken jack. Clear it out gently with something wooden, never metal, and test it again.
Anything that does not do its job. A speaker that buzzes, a charging port that has to be held at an angle, a fingerprint reader that stopped recognizing you, a camera that will not focus, a phone that reboots on its own. There is no list to learn, just that one idea. Cracks and chips are Faulty even when everything works, and so is screen burn-in.
Yes, at $2. A crack or a chip anywhere on the phone puts it in Faulty, the front glass and the camera glass included. Choose Faulty when you quote and the figure you see is the figure that gets paid. Nothing gets renegotiated when it lands here.
No, that is wear, and wear is a grade rather than a fault. Polycarbonate scuffs more easily than glass and it is normal to see fine marks on a phone this age. Drag a fingernail across them: if it catches, that is Fair. If you can see them but not feel them, that is Average. What changes the answer is a crack or a gouge that has broken through, which is Faulty like any other crack.
No, and this is the question we get most. There is no battery health rule on Android phones here. No number to reach, no screen to go and find. If the battery has genuinely failed, the ordinary rule about parts that do not work applies, and that is the only way it touches your grade.
The Pixel 3a has an OLED screen, so it can happen, and it grades Faulty when it has. Put the brightness up, find a dim room, and open a plain white image full screen. A faint permanent shadow of the clock, the battery icon or the navigation bar is burn-in. One dead or stuck pixel is not, and neither is the slight color shift you get looking at the screen from an angle.
Yes. Choose your carrier at the quote step rather than unlocked and you will see that carrier's price. Unlocked is the best paying option on this model at every grade. The lock that actually stops the sale is a Google account lock, which is a different thing and covered below.
Then the phone is FRP locked when it gets here and we cannot buy it at any grade, because it cannot be tested, wiped or resold. It goes back to you at our cost. Avoid it by taking the account off first, in Settings, Passwords and accounts, and only then running the reset from Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data.
Not yet. While there is an installment plan or a lease running, the phone is under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Once the balance is gone it prices exactly like any other Pixel 3a.
Most carriers stopped taking this phone some time ago, and where an offer exists it is bill credit against a new line, paid out over 24 or 36 months. That is not cash and you cannot spend it anywhere else. What we send is real money, by whichever of four methods you pick, on the day your phone clears inspection.

It is a few dollars, and that is the truth of a seven year old budget phone. Whether it is worth doing depends on what the alternative is. In a drawer it is worth nothing and slipping. In an envelope that costs you nothing to send, it is worth something today. If it turns out to be past a price, recycling is free and it still gets wiped properly, which is the part most people actually care about.
