A Pixel 3a XL pays between $2 and $17. Not a lot, and we will not dress it up as one. It is a budget phone from 2019. What it does have going for it is that the quote takes a minute, the mailing label costs you nothing, and the number is locked for 14 days once you say yes.
Most people call it a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and the difference shows up when somebody here opens the box, checks your phone by hand and writes down what they found.
Here is the part worth reading, because it usually moves the grade upward. The Pixel 3a XL has a polycarbonate body, not glass. Plastic behaves differently when a phone hits the floor. Glass spiderwebs. Plastic dents, flattens at the corner, or picks up a scuff you can feel with a fingernail.
That difference matters to your price. A dent is wear, and wear is a grade. A crack is a crack, and a crack is Faulty. So a Pixel 3a XL that has been dropped a few times, has a flat spot on one corner and a back full of fine marks, is still a wear grade rather than a fault. People routinely mark these down further than they need to.
Two things to check before you decide. The front of the phone is still glass, so run a fingernail across it and look along the edges near any flattened corner, because that is where a screen cracks. And make sure the plastic has not split or gouged right through, since that counts the same as any other crack. If you want to sell a broken Pixel 3a XL rather than a worn one, Faulty is still a row with a number in it. The only phone we cannot buy is one that will not power on, because it cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it, and we will recycle that free instead.

A prepaid USPS label comes by email. Remove your Google account before you reset the phone, not after, or it turns up here FRP locked and cannot be bought. Send the phone by itself. Cables, cases and the original box are not priced in, so they are worth more to you than to us.
Inspection happens by hand within 48 hours of the phone reaching us. If it is what you described, payment leaves the same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Whether we buy it or recycle it, every phone gets a Department of Defense grade wipe.

PIXEL 3A XL BUYBACK QUESTIONS
Your grade decides it, since there is only one storage size. A Flawless Pixel 3a XL, meaning no marks on it at all, is $16. Light wear that you cannot spot at arm's length brings that to $11. Cracked or not working, it is $2. The quote tool at the top of the page settles it in about a minute.
No. A dent is wear, and wear picks a grade rather than sending the phone to the bottom. This is where the plastic body works in your favor, because a drop that would have shattered a glass phone often leaves a 3a XL with nothing worse than a flat spot.
Feel the dent with a fingernail. If you can catch on it, that is Fair. If you can see marks but not feel them, that is Average. What changes the answer is damage that has broken through the plastic, or a crack in the front glass, and either of those is Faulty.
They get confused constantly and there are two quick answers. The Pixel 3 XL has a deep notch cut into the top of its screen. The 3a XL has a flat, unbroken top edge to the display. Then feel the back: the 3a XL is plastic and slightly warm to the touch, the 3 XL is glass and cold. If it is the other one, the Pixel 3 XL page carries its own prices.
Measure the screen or hold them together. The XL is 6.0 inches, the smaller one is 5.6, and there is nothing else between them: same plastic body, same headphone jack, same 64GB, same chip. The XL pays a few dollars more. If yours turns out to be the smaller one, use the Pixel 3a page.
Yes, and the price for that is $2. Any crack or chip, in the front glass or through the plastic body, means Faulty regardless of how well the phone runs. Pick Faulty at the quote step and the number stands when it arrives here.
Anything on it that no longer works. That is the whole test. A headphone jack that crackles, a charging port that will not hold a cable, a rear fingerprint reader that stopped recognizing you, a speaker that rattles, a phone that restarts on its own. Cracks, chips and screen burn-in also mean Faulty even when nothing is functionally wrong.
The 3a XL panel is OLED, so it can burn in, and burn-in is Faulty. Push the brightness right up, get into a dim room, and put a plain white image full screen. Look for a permanent shadow of the clock at the top or the navigation buttons at the bottom. Do not count a single stuck pixel, and do not count the color shifting when you look at the screen from an angle. Neither of those is burn-in.
There is not. Android phones have no battery health threshold here, so nothing needs looking up and no percentage needs hitting. A battery that has genuinely stopped working is caught by the ordinary rule about parts that do not work, and that is the only way the battery enters your grade at all.
Flawless is exactly what the word says, no marks anywhere, including the corners and the edges where a plastic phone shows its history first. Good is light wear you stop seeing at arm's length. Because polycarbonate marks more readily than glass, plenty of well kept 3a XLs land in Good rather than Flawless, and that is normal rather than a disappointment. Tilt the phone under a lamp and look at the edges before you choose.
Yes. Choose your carrier rather than unlocked when you quote and you will see that carrier's number. Unlocked pays best on this model at every grade. A carrier lock never stops a sale here. A Google account lock does, and that is the one to sort out before you mail anything.
It reaches us FRP locked, which means it cannot be tested, wiped or resold, so there is no grade we can buy it at. We mail it back at our cost, which wastes a week of yours. Take the account off in Settings, Passwords and accounts, then run the reset from Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data. Doing those two in that order is all it takes.
No. While an installment plan or a lease is still running, the phone sits under a financial obligation and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Once the last payment clears it prices like any other Pixel 3a XL, with nothing else changed.
Most will not quote a 2019 budget phone at all now. Where a number does exist it arrives as bill credit against a new line, drip fed over two or three years, which you cannot spend on anything but that carrier. For the money alone, it is marginal, and we would rather say that than talk you into anything. The case for doing it is that this phone is worth a little less every month it sits in a drawer, the shipping costs you nothing, and the data on it gets destroyed properly at the end.
