SELL YOUR IPAD 9
An iPad 9 pays between $14 and $100 here. The floor is a 64GB with a crack in the glass or a screen somebody has already replaced. The ceiling is a 256GB still sealed in its box. Capacity, the SIM tray and what the screen and the aluminum have been through are what move your own tablet between those two, and the whole spread is in the table below. The quote takes about a minute.
The number on a used tablet is priced on something most people never guess at. Not the sticker price, and not how tidy the thing looks: it is how much supported life is left in it. An iPad 9 still takes Apple's updates, so somebody out there wants one as a second screen or as a first tablet for a seven year old, and that demand is what pays you. The year those updates stop, the demand goes with them. A Buyback is us taking that clock off you. We buy the iPad 9 outright today, and what the market does to it next is our problem.
The purchase date does not tell you which iPad you have. Apple kept selling the iPad 9 brand new until May 2024, alongside the iPad 10 and the M-series Airs. Plenty of iPad 9 tablets were bought in 2023 and 2024. A recent receipt does not make yours a newer model.
Two checks do settle it, and both take seconds:
That True Tone switch does a second job. Every iPad 9 left the factory with it. A missing switch means the display has been replaced, and a replaced display grades an iPad 9 Faulty however clean the glass looks. Check for the switch before you pick a grade, not after.
A capacity of 32GB or 128GB with no True Tone switch means you are holding an older tablet. That is an iPad 8 or an iPad 7, and both have their own prices. Color helps too. Apple built the iPad 9 in Silver and Space Gray only, so a gold tablet is never an iPad 9.
A WiFi + Cellular iPad 9 pays more than a WiFi one at every grade and in both sizes, but the gap is not the same everywhere. On a sealed or near-sealed 256GB it is $10. Everywhere else it narrows, to around $5 through the middle of the grid and to a single dollar on a broken one. The table below is WiFi. The best place to sell a used iPad 9 is somewhere that still quotes one at all. We do, used or broken. An iPad 9 that will not power on is the one we cannot buy. We recycle that tablet free and wipe it to DoD standards first. Shipping costs you nothing whether we buy your iPad 9 or recycle it.
LIVE PRICES
The used resale value of an iPad 9 runs from $14 for a cracked 64GB WiFi model up to $100 for a sealed 256GB. Add WiFi + Cellular and the top of the range becomes $110.
Storage, connectivity and wear set what you can sell yours for. Every figure below is pulled live from our own price feed.
| Comparison row | 64GB | 256GB |
|---|---|---|
Brand New | $84 | $100 |
Flawless | $80 | $95 |
Good | $70 | $85 |
Average | $62 | $75 |
Fair | $42 | $51 |
Faulty | $14 | $17 |
HOW IT WORKS
Pick 64GB or 256GB, WiFi or WiFi + Cellular, and the grade that matches the wear. Check the True Tone switch and press the Home button first. A missing switch or a dead button moves the iPad 9 into Faulty. The Buyback price you accept is locked for 14 days.
We email you a prepaid USPS label, so shipping costs you nothing. Sign out of iCloud to switch Activation Lock off. Erase the iPad 9, then box it. Keep the Apple Pencil, the keyboard folio and the case at home. We cannot pay for any of them and they only go missing in transit.
We inspect your iPad 9 within 48 hours of arrival. If the tablet matches your description, we pay you the same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. We run a DoD-grade wipe on every tablet, whether we buy it or recycle it.

IPAD 9 BUYBACK QUESTIONS
A 256GB WiFi iPad 9 in Flawless condition is worth $95. The same iPad 9 in Average is $75. A 64GB with a crack in it still pays $14. Storage, connectivity and wear set the number, in that order. Run yours through the quote tool at the top of the page for your exact Buyback price.
Open Settings, tap General, then About, and read the capacity. An iPad 9 is 64GB or 256GB. An iPad 8 is 32GB or 128GB. The two tablets look the same from the outside: same 10.2-inch screen, same Home button, same Lightning port, same headphone jack, same aluminum back.
Two more checks separate them:
If yours turns out to be the older tablet, our sell your iPad 8 page has its own prices.
Probably, yes. Apple kept the iPad 9 on sale new until May 2024, well after the iPad 10 arrived, because it was the cheapest iPad in the store. Buying an iPad 9 in 2023 or 2024 was normal. The tablet is older than the purchase date suggests, which is why the price here is lower than owners expect. Check the capacity and the True Tone switch and you will know for certain.
A2602 is the WiFi only iPad 9. A2604 is the WiFi + Cellular iPad 9, sold as A2603 in North America and A2605 in mainland China. Flip the tablet over and read the tiny print near the bottom. All four model numbers are quoted on this page. A2270 or A2197 means you have an older tablet and the wrong page.
The screen has been replaced. Every iPad 9 shipped with True Tone in Settings, under Display and Brightness, and a third party screen swap takes the switch away with it. A replaced display grades an iPad 9 Faulty, even with perfect glass and working touch. Pick Faulty in the quote tool and the number you see is the number we pay. Hiding a replaced screen only gets the iPad 9 regraded when it reaches us.
Yes. Any crack or chip on the screen, the back or the camera lens puts an iPad 9 in Faulty. Faulty is a price rather than a refusal. A cracked 64GB pays $14 and a cracked 256GB pays $17. Choose Faulty at the quote step and nothing changes when the tablet lands with us.
The iPad 9 grades Faulty. The Home button has to click and respond. Touch ID has to read your fingerprint. One of those failing is enough on its own. Press the button a few times and check that Touch ID opens the iPad 9 with your thumb before you choose a grade. The check takes 10 seconds and it is the difference between the price you quoted and the price we pay.
Battery health under 80% puts an iPad 9 in Faulty. A service battery warning does the same. An iPad 9 built in 2021 and charged every night since is often under 80% by now. Settings, then Battery, shows you the health figure on current software, and on anything older there is no percentage on the tablet to read at all. In that case judge it by how it behaves: one that will not see out an afternoon off the charger, or that dies at 20 or 30 percent, or that only stays awake while it is plugged in. Quote it as Faulty and you get the Faulty price with no surprises at the other end.
Yes, at every grade and both storage sizes. The gap is a few dollars on a 64GB and $10 on a clean 256GB, which is why the top of our range belongs to a Cellular tablet. The table above shows WiFi prices. Look for a SIM tray on the right edge, then switch the quote to WiFi + Cellular. No iPad is carrier locked, so the network it ran on makes no difference. A Cellular iPad 9 does need a clean ESN, because it carries an IMEI like a phone. Settings, General, About shows you that number. A WiFi iPad 9 has no IMEI, so the ESN rule does not apply to it.
A trade-in at Apple or a carrier pays you in credit. The money comes back as an Apple Gift Card or as a discount on the next tablet, so it only spends in one place. A Buyback pays you the money itself, and nothing ties it to buying something else.
The second difference shows up when the tablet is not perfect. A counter will often value a cracked or screen-replaced iPad 9 at nothing. We still quote one, and Faulty is a real price on this page rather than a refusal. Compare both numbers before you hand the iPad 9 over. If theirs wins, take it.
One payment rule to know before you quote. A sealed iPad 9 graded Brand New is paid by PayPal only. Every other grade can be paid by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check, and you choose which at the end of the quote.
No. We cannot pay for an iPad 9 that will not power up. A tablet with no power cannot be tested. Your data cannot be cleared off it either, and that is the practical reason. We do take it off your hands for free. Send the iPad 9 on a free label, and we wipe it to DoD standards and recycle it properly. A free return is the other option, and you only have to ask.
No to all three. They are three separate problems.
Payments still running mean the iPad 9 is under a financial obligation, whether that is a monthly plan or a lease. We do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Settle the balance and the tablet quotes like any other iPad 9.
A tablet reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a carrier, fails on its IMEI. That check exists on WiFi + Cellular models only, because a WiFi iPad 9 has no IMEI at all.
Activation Lock applies to every iPad 9, WiFi or Cellular. An iPad 9 still signed in to an Apple Account we cannot open goes straight back to you. Sign out of iCloud before you post it.
Open Settings, tap General, then Transfer or Reset iPad, then Erase All Content and Settings. The iPad 9 asks for your Apple Account password. Entering it is the step that turns Activation Lock off. Do it while the tablet is still with you. There is a longer walkthrough on our erase your device page. We run a DoD-grade wipe on arrival too, but your data has to come off first.
No, keep them. Accessories are not priced into an iPad 9 Buyback. An Apple Pencil (1st generation), a folio keyboard or a case adds nothing to your payout and each one can get lost. Send the iPad 9 on its own. The charging cable can stay with you as well.
Honest answer: it is not much. The prices on this page start at $14 and stop at $110. That top figure needs a sealed 256GB Cellular tablet that almost nobody still has. A realistic used iPad 9 lands somewhere in the middle.
Set against that, the postage costs you nothing and the iPad 9 is doing nothing where it is. An iPad 9 too far gone to carry a price is recycled free. We wipe every tablet that reaches us. Both of those beat a drawer.
Pick your storage, your connectivity and your grade. The quote takes about a minute, and the price holds for 14 days.
