Here is something odd about this phone. Put a Galaxy Z Flip 6 next to a Galaxy Z Flip5 5G and they are the same object. Same 3.4 inch cover screen. Same 6.7 inch screen inside. Same 71.9 by 165.1 mm open, same 6.9 mm thin, same 187 grams. The folded thickness differs by two tenths of a millimeter, which nobody can see.
The camera is the tell. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a 50MP main camera on the lid. The Flip5 has a 12MP one. Open your camera app, switch to the main lens and look at what resolution it offers, or read Settings, About phone, Model number: SM-F741U is the Flip 6, SM-F731U is the Flip5. Worth thirty seconds, because the two are priced differently.
That camera matters for a second reason, and this is the part specific to a Flip. On a Flip the rear cameras sit on the outer lid, right next to the cover screen. Fold the phone and that lid is the face you put down on every table and slide into every pocket, keys and all. On a slab phone the cameras point at the ceiling. On this one they point at whatever you set it on. So check the lens covers carefully in a raking light and run a fingernail over them. A scratch glides. A chip catches, and a chip on a lens cover is Faulty, no matter how well the camera still takes pictures.
Same rule for cracks anywhere else: screen, back, frame, either panel. The inner folding screen is still a screen, so a crack in it counts exactly like a crack in the glass on the outside.
The line across the middle of that inner screen is not a crack. That is the crease. Every folding phone has one, and Samsung says plainly that it is a normal characteristic of a device designed with a flexible display and does not affect the display's quality, lifespan or performance. It does not touch your grade.
Then the hinge, which is worth two minutes. Open it to about halfway and let go. It should stay put. A hinge that flops shut or springs open has worn, and worn is broken, and on a Samsung anything that has stopped working is Faulty. Lay it open on a table and check the halves are level. Shut it and look along the edge for a gap. A faint click as it moves is fine, Samsung says the hinge metal does that.
Burn-in is Faulty too, on either OLED panel, and so is any other function that has stopped: a speaker, a button, a camera, the charging port. Beyond that we buy them used and we buy them broken, shipping free both ways. If yours will not power on we cannot price it, because we cannot test it or clear your data, but we will recycle it free and wipe it first.

Another pair with matching screens, 3.4 inches out and 6.7 inches in. Three things split them. Storage: 512GB only ever came on a Flip 6, 128GB only ever came on the FE. Memory: 12GB on the Flip 6, 8GB on the FE. Color: the FE was black or white only, so a Yellow, Blue, Mint or Peach phone is a Flip 6. Model number ends it, SM-F741U against SM-F761U. It does, and it is the thing we see most often on this model. A chip in a lens cover is a chip in glass, and any crack or chip anywhere on the phone is Faulty. The camera still working does not save it. The reason it happens so much on a Flip is the layout: the cameras are on the outer lid, so when the phone is folded and face down on a table or loose in a pocket, those two circles of glass are taking the contact. Check them in a raking light and drag a fingernail across. A scratch glides, a chip catches.

It is where the screen folds, it has been there since the day the phone was made, and Samsung's own support answer is that the crease is a normal characteristic of a device designed with a flexible display and that it does not affect the display's quality, lifespan or performance. We treat it the same. Nobody loses a grade over the crease.
Open it slowly and stop halfway. A healthy hinge holds that position with no hand on it. If the phone falls closed or pushes itself open, it is worn, and a worn hinge counts as a functionality issue, which on a Samsung is Faulty.
Two more checks. Open it flat on a table and see whether the halves sit level, with no step where they meet and no rocking. Then fold it shut and look down the long edge for daylight.
Noise on its own is not a fault. Samsung says the hinge metal can click or feel like it snags as the parts move against each other, and that this is normal. It is behavior, not sound, that decides the grade.
Yes, at the Faulty price, which is a real number rather than a refusal. It applies to a crack in the inner folding screen, the cover screen, the back, or a lens cover. A cracked 256GB pays $43 and a cracked 512GB pays $47. Select Faulty when you quote and that is what we pay when it lands.
It does. Burn-in is Faulty on a Samsung and a Flip gives you two panels to check. Load a plain white image, view it full screen on the 3.4 inch cover display, then on the inner one, both in a dim room and both tilted a little. A ghost of the clock, the status bar, a keyboard, anything that stays visible through the white, is burn-in. One panel is enough to make it Faulty.
No. Samsung phones have no 80 percent battery rule here and there is no battery health figure we want you to find. Skip that whole exercise. The only way the battery changes anything is if it has stopped working, and then the general rule handles it: something on the phone does not work, so the phone is Faulty.
Fair is heavy wear you can feel with a fingernail, and no cracks or chips anywhere. Deep scuffs on the frame, a scratched lid, a worn hinge cover, all still Fair as long as nothing is broken and nothing is cracked. The moment there is a crack or a chip, or something has stopped working, it is Faulty instead. The dividing line is not how bad it looks. It is whether the glass is broken or the phone is.

Still being paid off. A lease or an installment plan is a financial obligation, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Clear the balance and quote it after.
A Google account lock, an FRP lock, or a tripped Knox counter. Nobody but you can set the phone up, so there is nothing to price. This one is the easiest to avoid: remove your Google account from the phone before you factory reset it.
Blacklisted, or reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a carrier for non-payment. Different from simply being locked to a network, which is fine.
A phone that will not power on. We cannot test it and cannot clear your data off it, so we will not put a number on it. Free recycling with a full wipe, or a free return, whichever you want.
Get their number and put it next to ours, because the two are not the same kind of money. A carrier pays in credit against your bill, released monthly, usually for 24 or 36 months, and usually only while the line stays active with them.
