SELL YOUR PIXEL 5A 5G
A Pixel 5a 5G pays between $7 and $47. Solid figures for a budget phone from 2021, and they hold up well against the rest of the Pixel line here. Pricing yours takes about a minute.
Most people call it a trade-in. We call it a Buyback. Ours comes with a person opening the box, checking the phone by hand and telling you what they found, which is the part carriers skip.
The Pixel 5a was the first a-series Pixel Google ever rated for water. IP67, which means a dunk rather than a swim. It is the headline the phone shipped with, and it is the thing most worth testing before you pick a grade.
A water rating describes a phone when it is new. Seals harden, adhesive lets go, and phones get dropped. The parts water reaches first are the ones that make noise, so listen to all three of them. Play a voice memo through the loudspeaker at full volume and listen for buzz or rattle. Call someone and hold the phone to your ear the normal way. Record ten seconds of yourself talking and play it back.
Any audio fault at all, in the loudspeaker, the ear speaker or the microphone, is a part that has stopped working, and on an Android that means Faulty. Two minutes of listening is the difference between a grade that holds and a grade we have to change once the box is open. If everything sounds clean, water is not your problem and you can grade the phone on wear alone.
Where to sell a Pixel 5a 5G is a shorter list than usual, because Google only ever sold it in the United States and Japan, so there are far fewer of them about. We buy them, used or broken. The best place to sell a used Pixel 5a 5G is somewhere that gives you the number before you post it and then stands by it for 14 days. A phone that will not power on we cannot buy, but recycling is free, the return is free, and the wipe happens whichever way it goes.
LIVE PRICES
The used resale value of a Pixel 5a 5G runs from $7 for a cracked one up to $47 for a sealed one. Google sold it with 128GB and no other option, so the table needs one column.
Wear and working order are what move it. Every number below comes live from our own price feed.
| Comparison row | 128GB |
|---|---|
Brand New | $47 |
Flawless | $45 |
Good | $35 |
Average | $30 |
Fair | $21 |
Faulty | $7 |
HOW IT WORKS
Pick your carrier and your grade. Do the two minute listening test first, because a crackling speaker or a dead microphone changes the grade and you want to know now rather than later. The Buyback price you accept is locked for 14 days.
We email a prepaid USPS label. Remove your Google account and factory reset the phone before it leaves you, since a Pixel arriving still signed in cannot be bought. Then the phone goes in on its own. No charger, no case, no box needed.
Your phone clears inspection within 48 hours of arriving. Matching what you described means payment goes out the same day, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Bought or recycled, every phone gets a Department of Defense grade wipe here.

PIXEL 5A 5G BUYBACK QUESTIONS
One storage size, so condition is the whole calculation. Light wear you can see but cannot feel with a fingernail pays $30. Tidier than that, invisible from arm's length, and it is $35. Cracked or not working, it is $7. The quote tool at the top of the page gives you the exact figure.
Yes, and the water itself is not what we grade. What we grade is whether anything stopped working because of it.
So test the parts water reaches first. Play a voice memo through the loudspeaker at full volume and listen for buzzing or a rattle. Make a call and hold the phone to your ear to check the earpiece. Record yourself for ten seconds and play it back to check the microphone. Then plug in a cable and make sure it charges without wiggling.
All clean, and grade the phone on its scratches. Anything crackling, muffled or silent, and it is Faulty. IP67 was a rating for a new phone, and a phone that has been dunked and dried out is not new.
Average is light wear you can see but cannot feel when you run a fingernail over it. That is where most of these land. Above it, Good is light wear you would not see from arm's length, Flawless is no marks anywhere, and Brand New is sealed and never switched on. Below it, Fair is heavy wear you can genuinely feel, still with no cracks or chips. Faulty is a crack, a chip, or a part that no longer works. Use the fingernail rather than your eyes, because the coating on this phone hides fine scratches.
Yes. A crack or a chip anywhere makes it Faulty, and Faulty is a price rather than a rejection. A cracked Pixel 5a 5G pays $7. Choose Faulty at the quote stage and that is exactly what you are paid when it lands here.
They look alike, so use the back. The Pixel 5a is metal under its coating and feels cool and solid. The Pixel 4a 5G is plastic through and through. The 5a is also slightly bigger at 6.34 inches against 6.2, and it is the only one of the two with a water resistance rating. If the model number reads G025E, G025I or G6QU3 you have the older one, and our sell your Pixel 4a 5G page carries its prices.
Check the top edge for a headphone jack. The Pixel 5a has one, the Pixel 5 does not. The Pixel 5a is also the larger phone and has no wireless charging. Both use the same chip, which is why they feel so similar in use. If yours has no jack, the prices you want are on our sell your Pixel 5 page.
It does, because it is a part like any other. Unlock the phone with your thumb five times in a row on the circle at the back. If it will not read you any more, that is something that has stopped working and the phone grades Faulty. Before you accept that, clean the sensor, take the case off and enroll your thumb again, because a dirty or badly enrolled reader fails identically to a broken one.
By itself, no. There is no battery percentage rule on any Android phone we buy. We will not ask you for a figure and there is nowhere we want you to go and look. The Pixel 5a has a big 4680mAh cell and even a tired one usually gets through a day. The only way battery touches your grade is failure: a phone that powers off on its own or refuses to charge has stopped working, and that is Faulty.
Yes, it is Faulty, and this is an OLED panel so it can happen. Check it in a dark room with brightness turned up, using a plain mid gray image across the whole screen. Look for a ghost of the status bar or the navigation bar that does not move when you scroll. A stuck pixel on its own is not burn-in, and neither is color drifting as you tilt the phone.
Not for money. Without power we cannot test anything and we cannot erase your data, and pricing a phone we cannot open would be guesswork. The offer instead is free either way: post it to us on a free label and we recycle it properly after a Department of Defense grade wipe, or ask for it back and we return it at no charge.
Not yet. While there is a balance on an installment plan or a lease, the phone is under a financial obligation and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Once you have paid it off it is yours to sell and this page works normally.
Then we cannot buy it, whatever grade it would otherwise be. Factory reset protection ties the phone to the account it was signed in to, and neither we nor anyone else should be able to walk past that. Reported lost or stolen, blacklisted and carrier blocked are the same answer. Removing your account before you post it is the whole prevention.
Go to Settings, Passwords and accounts, and remove the Google account. Then Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data. That order is what actually clears factory reset protection. Your photos, messages and saved passwords are erased and they cannot be recovered. There is a full guide on our erase your device page. We wipe it again ourselves on arrival to Department of Defense standards.
Worth checking both, and the comparison is not just the number. A carrier gives you credit against your bill, paid monthly over two or three years, and only while you keep the plan. We give you cash, once, the day the phone clears inspection, with nothing owed afterwards. Our figure is on this page in full before you send anything.
Four choices at checkout. Gift card by email, about 3 percent more because the brands add a bonus on top. PayPal, instant, with PayPal's own 2.99 percent fee taken out. Bank transfer in 2 to 4 days. A check in the post in 3 to 5. Every one of them leaves the same day your phone clears inspection. Sealed Brand New phones go out by PayPal only.
Listen to the speakers, pick your grade, get the number. It holds for 14 days.
