SELL YOUR PIXEL 5
A Pixel 5 pays between $7 and $47. Those are among the strongest numbers on any of our Pixel pages, which is unusual for a phone from 2020. Getting yours quoted takes about a minute.
Most people call it a trade-in. We call it a Buyback. A person here opens the box, checks the phone by hand and tells you what they found, and that is why our number and a carrier's number are not the same kind of number.
If you have ever looked closely at the edge of your Pixel 5 screen and found a gap between the glass and the metal frame, stop worrying about it. Owners started posting photos of that gap within days of the phone going on sale.
Google investigated, looked at the affected phones against its own factory data, and said the gap is a normal part of the design, with no effect on the water and dust resistance or the functionality of the phone. So it is not damage. It is not a fault. It does not move your grade, and you should not mark yourself down for it.
What does move the grade is ordinary. A crack or a chip in the glass is Faulty. Anything on the phone that has stopped working is Faulty. Everything else is wear, and wear picks a grade. Run a fingernail across the coated aluminum back and along the sides, because that is where a Pixel 5 shows its miles, and what your fingernail catches on is worth more to your grade than what your eye notices.
Where to sell a Pixel 5 is worth two minutes of comparison, because this one still carries a real figure. We buy them used, scratched or broken. The best place to sell a used Pixel 5 is somewhere that quotes you before you post and then holds the price for 14 days. If yours will not power on we cannot buy it, but we will recycle it free and wipe it on the way in, and a free return is always on the table.
LIVE PRICES
The used resale value of a Pixel 5 runs from $7 for a cracked one up to $47 for a sealed one. Google sold this phone in 128GB only, so the whole table is one column.
Condition is the only lever you have, and every figure below is pulled live from our own price feed.
| Comparison row | 128GB |
|---|---|
Brand New | $47 |
Flawless | $45 |
Good | $35 |
Average | $30 |
Fair | $21 |
Faulty | $7 |
HOW IT WORKS
Choose your carrier and the grade your fingernail says the phone is in. Ignore the gap at the screen edge, it is not a fault and it changes nothing. Accept the Buyback price and we hold it for 14 days while the phone is in the post.
A prepaid USPS label comes by email. Sign your Google account out of the phone and factory reset it, because a Pixel that arrives signed in cannot be bought at any price. Then the phone goes in the box on its own. Keep the charger and the case.
It reaches the bench and clears inspection within 48 hours. If the phone matches what you told us, the money leaves the same day, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every Pixel 5 through this building gets a Department of Defense grade wipe, whether we buy it or recycle it.

PIXEL 5 BUYBACK QUESTIONS
There is one storage size, so condition decides everything. A Pixel 5 with no marks on it at all pays $45. Light wear you would not notice from arm's length is $35. A cracked one is $7. Use the quote tool at the top for the exact figure on yours.
No. This came up within days of the phone launching in 2020 and enough owners reported it that Google looked into it directly.
Google's answer was that the gap is a normal part of the design and has no effect on the water and dust resistance or the functionality of the phone. We treat it the same way. A visible gap at the screen edge is not a crack, not a chip and not a fault, so it does not push your Pixel 5 down a grade and it certainly does not make it Faulty.
Grade the phone on what your fingernail finds on the back and the sides instead. That is the part we look at.
No marks at all. Not one scratch you can see, not one your fingernail catches. Hold it under a bright light and turn it over slowly, because the textured coating on the back hides fine scratches better than glass does. If anything shows up, you are in Good or Average, and there is nothing wrong with either. The grades below: Good is light wear invisible at arm's length, Average is light wear you can see but cannot feel, Fair is heavy wear you can feel with no cracks, and Faulty is a crack, a chip, or a part that no longer works.
Yes to both, though they land differently. Any crack or chip makes the phone Faulty, which pays $7. A dent in the metal frame with no crack in it is wear, not a fault, so it sits in Fair rather than Faulty. Look at it under a light before you decide, because a dent with a hairline running out of it counts as a crack and that changes the answer.
Touch the back. The Pixel 5 is aluminum under its coating and feels cold. The Pixel 4a 5G is plastic and does not. Then check the top edge: the Pixel 4a 5G has a headphone jack, the Pixel 5 has none. The Pixel 5 is also the smaller of the two, 6.0 inches to 6.2, which catches people out. If yours has the jack, our sell your Pixel 4a 5G page has the right prices.
Settings, About phone, Model. Google lists both in its own Pixel 5 safety, warranty and regulatory manual, and they are regional versions of the same phone. Both quote at the same price on this page.
Only if it has actually failed. There is no battery percentage rule on Android phones here, no number we ask you for and no screen we send you to. A four or five year old Pixel 5 that needs a charge before dinner is completely normal and grades on its scratches like any other. What is not normal is a phone that shuts itself off, swells enough to lift the screen, or will not take a charge. Any of those is a part that has stopped working, and that grades Faulty.
Yes. OLED panel, so burn-in is Faulty. Test it properly rather than guessing: dark room, brightness up, a plain mid gray image filling the screen. Gray shows uneven pixel wear before white does. What you are looking for is a permanent ghost, usually of the status bar across the top or the navigation bar at the bottom. A single stuck pixel is not burn-in. Color shifting when you tilt the phone is not burn-in. A shape that will not scroll away is.
We will not price one, and the reason is that we cannot check it or clear your data off it. Both of those are the whole point of what we do. So instead of a low offer, we make you two free ones: send it in on a free label and we recycle it responsibly with a Department of Defense grade wipe first, or tell us and we post it straight back to you at no cost.
Not while the balance stands. A phone on an installment plan or a lease is under a financial obligation and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Once it is settled and the phone is genuinely yours, quote it here and nothing else changes.
No, at any grade and any condition. A Google account lock, factory reset protection still active, a phone reported lost or stolen, blacklisted, or blocked by a carrier: all of them mean we cannot buy. The one you control is the account lock, and clearing it before you post is a five minute job that decides whether you get paid or get your phone back.
Take the Google account off first, in Settings, Passwords and accounts. Then Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data. Doing it in that order is what switches factory reset protection off, and skipping the first half is the most common reason a phone comes back to its owner instead of being paid for. Your photos, messages and saved passwords are erased and they cannot be recovered. Our erase your device page has the full walkthrough.
Get both numbers and hold them next to each other. A carrier pays in bill credit, released monthly across two or three years, and only while you stay on the plan. We pay cash in one payment the day the phone clears inspection, and after that you owe us nothing and we owe you nothing. Different products, not just different figures.
Pick from four at checkout. A gift card arrives by email and works out about 3 percent better because the brands add a bonus. PayPal is instant, less PayPal's 2.99 percent fee. A bank transfer takes 2 to 4 days and a mailed check 3 to 5. Every one of them is sent the same day your Pixel 5 clears inspection. Sealed Brand New phones are paid through PayPal only.
No. Nothing is required with the phone. None of it is priced into the quote, and posting a charger across the country to add nothing to your payment is a waste of a good charger.
Carrier and grade, and that is the whole form. The number holds for 14 days.
