No. Every folding phone has a crease where the panel bends, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is no different. You can see it under a light and you can usually feel it with a fingertip. It is not damage, it does not lower your grade, and we are not going to knock the price for it when the phone arrives. What we care about on that panel is a crack, a chip, a dead patch or a ghost image burned into it.

Two checks, both take a few seconds.

Open the phone to roughly ninety degrees, stand it on a flat table like a little tent and let go. A healthy hinge holds that angle. If it slowly falls open or snaps shut, it is not holding.

Then fold it fully closed and run your ear near it while you open and close it twice. Grinding, crunching or a gritty rasp is a problem. So is a phone that will not close flush along its whole length.

If either check fails, the hinge has stopped doing its job, and the rule on Android is simple: if something on the phone does not work, the phone is Faulty. Pick Faulty when you quote and the number you see is the number you get.

Yes. A crack or a chip anywhere, either screen, the back or a lens cover, moves the phone to Faulty. That is a price, not a rejection. A 256GB in that state pays $128 and a 1TB pays $145. Choose Faulty when you quote, describe it honestly, and nothing changes when it reaches us.

Worth saying plainly because this phone has two panels: a crack in the cover screen counts exactly the same as a crack in the inner screen. One is enough.

Burn-in grades the phone Faulty, and both panels here are OLED, so both can get it. Turn the brightness all the way up in a dim room and put a plain white image on each screen in turn. A faint permanent shadow of the clock, the status bar icons or the navigation pill is burn-in. A stuck pixel is not, and neither is the greenish tint OLED panels take on when you look at them from an angle.

If it folds, it is the Fold. That sounds obvious, but the two get mixed up in listings because both are big Pixels in Moonstone and Jade with the same three cameras. The Fold has a 6.4 inch screen on the outside and an 8 inch one inside, weighs 9.1 oz, and starts at 256GB. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is one slab of glass with a 6.8 inch screen and weighs 8.2 oz. In the US it is GU0NP. Google prints that on the box rather than on the phone, which catches people out, because there is no A number etched on the back the way there is on an iPhone. If the box has gone, open Settings, tap About phone and read the Model line. That is the practical answer and it takes about ten seconds. Japanese units are GM66V and they quote the same here.

There is no battery rule on this phone. No 80 percent line, no percentage to hit, and no battery health screen you need to go hunting for, because Android does not grade on one. A battery that has faded with use does not change your condition at all. The only way a battery affects the grade is if it has genuinely failed, meaning the phone will not hold a charge or will not run off it, and that gets caught by the same rule everything else does: something that does not work makes the phone Faulty.

It does, and this is the rule people carry over wrong from the iPhone pages. On an Android phone there is no checklist of faults. If something on the phone does not work, the phone is Faulty. A dead speaker, a mic nobody can hear you through, a power button that has gone soft, a camera that will not focus, a fingerprint reader that has stopped reading, a charging port that only works at an angle, all of it lands in the same place. Test it before you quote: call someone, record a voice memo and play it back, press every button, tap 0.5x, 1x and 5x in the camera app, and plug it in. A 512GB that fails one of those is $136 rather than $682, and we would rather you told us than found out at inspection.

Not for money, and the reason is practical rather than fussy. A phone with no power cannot be opened up and tested, and your photos, messages and saved passwords cannot be erased off it. We are not going to put a price on something we cannot check or clear. What we will do is recycle it free. Send it on a free label, we run a Department of Defense wipe on it and dispose of it properly, or we mail it straight back to you at no cost. Your call.

Those are three different stops and all three end the same way, so here they are together.

Money still owed on it means no. A phone on carrier installments or a lease is under a financial obligation and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Pay it off and it quotes like anything else.

A Google account lock means no. If the phone is still signed in to your account, factory reset protection keeps it locked to you and nobody else can set it up, us included. Sign out and factory reset before you mail it and this never comes up.

A lot, and unlocked wins by a wide margin on this phone. A 1TB in Good condition is $724 unlocked against $507 on AT&T, with T-Mobile, Verizon and Other below that in order. If your contract is done and the phone can be unlocked, do that first. Ask your carrier to unlock it, wait for it to go through, then quote it. That is usually the single biggest thing you can do to the number on this page.

Open Settings, tap System, then Reset options, then Erase all data (factory reset). Before you do that, go to Settings, Passwords and accounts and remove your Google account, because that is what switches off factory reset protection. Do both while the phone is still in your hands.
