Most people call it a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and here is why the price is different. A person checks your phone by hand, it gets a Department of Defense wipe and a tracking number in both directions, and we tell you what we found before we pay you.
The 9 Pro is the only phone in the OnePlus 9 family with a real zoom lens, and that is both how you identify it and how you test it. Open the camera and tap 3.3x. The frame should jump closer with no mushiness, the way it does when a second lens takes over. If it stays soft, or the app refuses to switch, that lens has stopped working, and on an Android phone anything that has stopped working is Faulty. Thirty seconds, and it settles your grade before you pick one.
The other thing to look at is the screen edge. On the 9 Pro the display bends down both long sides, which is lovely to hold and terrible in a drop, because the curve sits proud of most cases and reaches the floor first. Turn the screen off and tilt the phone under a bright lamp so the reflection sweeps down each edge. A clean curve throws one smooth band of light. A chip throws a spark. Any chip anywhere means Faulty, however well the phone works.

HOW IT WORKS
Choose 128GB or 256GB, your network and a grade. Do the 3.3x zoom test and the lamp test on both screen edges before you commit, because those two checks are what usually moves a OnePlus 9 Pro between grades. The Buyback price you accept holds for 14 days.
We send a prepaid USPS label. Take your Google account off the phone, then factory reset it, then wrap it so both curved edges are cushioned rather than resting on cardboard. Leave the charger, cable and case at home. They add nothing to the payment.
Inspection happens within 48 hours of arrival, by hand, by a person in our building. If the phone is what you described, payment leaves that day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every phone is wiped to Department of Defense standards, bought or recycled.

ONEPLUS 9 PRO BUYBACK QUESTIONS
Storage and wear, in that order of impact. A 256GB in Flawless condition pays $102, and the same phone at 128GB pays $75. Drop a 256GB to Fair and it is $49. Put your own combination through the quote tool at the top for the exact figure.
Look at the screen from the side. The 9 Pro curves down both long edges. The OnePlus 9 is flat. Then open the camera: the Pro zooms to 3.3x with a proper lens and the standard 9 has no telephoto at all. The Pro is also the larger phone, 6.7 inches against 6.55. In writing, Settings, About phone, the US Pro is LE2125 or LE2127.
Open the camera in daylight, frame something with fine detail like a road sign or a book spine, and tap 3.3x. Watch the picture. A working telephoto snaps to a closer, sharp frame as the second lens takes over. A failed one leaves you with a soft, blown-up crop from the main camera, or the app simply will not switch. If that is what you see, grade the phone Faulty. It is a lens that has stopped working, and on Android any part that has stopped working sets the grade regardless of how the phone looks.
It does, and it is the single most common thing sellers miss on this phone. The curve stands proud of most cases, so it meets the ground first and takes a chip from a knock that would leave a flat phone untouched. Screen off, tilt it under a lamp, and let the reflection run down each long edge. One smooth band of light means the glass is intact. A spark or a broken line means a chip, and a chip anywhere on a OnePlus 9 Pro grades Faulty even though the display works perfectly.
Yes, and it is a price rather than a refusal. Faulty pays $11 on a 128GB and $16 on a 256GB. That grade covers cracks, chips, a cracked back panel, a chipped camera lens cover and a display that has already been swapped for an aftermarket part. Choose Faulty at the quote step and nothing changes when we open the parcel.
Burn-in grades Faulty. The 9 Pro panel is AMOLED, and AMOLED holds a ghost of anything that sat in one place for years, most often the status bar icons or the navigation area. Open a plain white image, push the brightness up, and look across the panel at a slight angle. Any shadow, ghosting or patch of uneven color counts. Do the same check on a plain gray image if you are unsure, since faint burn-in shows up better on gray than on white.
Not by percentage. There is no 80 percent rule on Android phones here, no figure to quote and no battery health screen worth hunting for. A five year old 9 Pro that no longer lasts all day is graded on how it looks, like any other phone. The exception is a battery that has genuinely failed: it shuts the phone off at 30 or 40 percent, or the phone only runs while plugged in. That is a part that no longer works, which is Faulty.
No marks at all. Not faint ones, not ones you have to hunt for. Most 9 Pros that have lived in a case with a screen protector still qualify, which is why it is worth checking rather than assuming. One step down, Good means light wear you cannot see at arm's length. Average means light wear your fingernail cannot feel. Fair means heavier wear you can feel, still with no cracks and no chips.
Worth comparing, and the shape of the offer matters as much as the size. Carriers usually pay in bill credit spread across 24 or 36 months and tied to keeping the line, so you collect it slowly or not at all. Ours reaches $107 on this model, it is cash or a gift card or a transfer, and it goes out the day your phone clears inspection. Whichever number is genuinely bigger, take it.
Two separate things. If there is a balance left on an installment plan or a lease, the phone is under a financial obligation and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Pay it off and quote it normally. If the phone is held by a Google account or FRP lock, nobody can set it up but you, so we cannot buy it at any grade. The fix is to remove your Google account before the reset, not after. Blacklisted, carrier blocked or reported lost or stolen phones are also outside what we can buy.
Then no price. We cannot test a phone that does not power up and we cannot clear your data off it, and we will not buy something we cannot check. What we can do is recycle it at no cost, with the same Department of Defense wipe every other phone gets, or mail it back to you for free. Either way you are not out of pocket.
Google account off first, reset second. Settings, tap your account, remove it, then Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data. That order is what keeps the phone from arriving here locked and getting posted straight back. Step by step with pictures is on our erase your device page. We run our own Department of Defense wipe when it lands, but your data should already be gone before it leaves you.
