The screen on a Moto G (2025) is an LCD, not an OLED. That single fact takes a whole category of damage off the table for you. Burn-in, where the faint outline of a status bar or a keyboard stays visible after the app closes, cannot happen on this panel. If you have read that a ghosted screen drops a phone to the bottom grade, that rule belongs to OLED phones and it does not reach this one.
What the panel can do is crack, and that is where most Moto G (2025) grades are actually decided. Turn the brightness all the way up, open a blank white note, and look across the glass at a low angle with a lamp behind you. A hairline crack that hides against a dark screen shows up as a bright line against a white one. Any crack or chip, screen or back, makes the phone Faulty on its own even if everything still works.

No. Burn-in is something OLED panels do, and this phone uses an LCD. A permanent ghost of the navigation bar or a keyboard is not a thing that can happen to it, so do not grade yourself down for one. If you see a faint image that fades after a few seconds on a different screen, that is image persistence on the LCD and it is not damage either.
Yes, at the Faulty price, which is $7 right now. One crack is the same as ten as far as the grade goes, and it applies to the back panel and the camera glass too. Nothing about a crack stops us buying the phone. It only decides which row you are in.
Check Settings, About phone, Model & hardware. The 2025 model is an XT2513 and the 2024 one is an XT2417. If you would rather do it by eye: the 2025 has a 6.7 inch screen and the 2024 is 6.6 inches, which is hard to judge, so the model number is the answer worth trusting. They are priced separately, so quoting the wrong one gets you the wrong number.
Heavy wear you can feel. Drag a fingernail slowly across the screen and the back. If it catches in a scratch, that is Fair. If it glides over marks you can see, that is Average. If you have to hunt for the marks at all, you are in Good. Fair still has no cracks in it. The moment there is a crack the grade is Faulty, whatever the rest of the phone looks like.
It does not. There is no battery percentage in our grading on this phone, and no screen we want you to go and read. The only way the battery reaches the grade is by failing outright, and a part that has failed makes the phone Faulty the same way a dead speaker or a dead button would.
On a phone this cheap the carrier will usually offer more on paper, and then pay it as monthly credit tied to a new line for the next two or three years. We pay less and we pay it in cash within a day of checking the phone. If you are staying put and buying a new handset from them anyway, take theirs. If you want money you can actually use, take ours.
No. A dead phone cannot be tested and, more importantly, your data cannot be cleared off it. We will not pay for something we cannot wipe. Ship it in and we will recycle it at no cost to you, running a Department of Defense grade erase on the storage first, or we will send it home free.
Not until that is cleared. This is the FRP lock, and it makes the phone unusable for whoever gets it next, so we cannot buy it at any grade. The fix is order of operations: remove the Google account in Settings first, then factory reset. Doing it the other way round leaves the lock in place. Stolen, lost, blacklisted and carrier blocked phones get the same answer.
