Yes, and it grades Faulty. Any part of the phone that does not work puts it in Faulty, and a key is a part. There is no partial credit for a keyboard where everything works except one letter.

Test it properly before you quote. Open a notes app and type every letter of the alphabet, then shift, alt, symbol, space and enter. Watch for a key that sticks, repeats or needs a firm press. A 128GB KEY2 in Faulty still pays $19, so this is a price, not a refusal.

It does. The KEY2 keyboard has a touch layer sitting over the physical keys, which is what lets you scroll a page with your thumb on the letters. That layer is a feature of the phone, so if it has died, the phone has a functionality issue and grades Faulty. Test it by resting a thumb on the keys and sliding down a long web page. No scroll means Faulty.

Yes. Any crack or chip anywhere, screen, back panel or camera glass, moves the phone into Faulty. It does not matter that the phone still works perfectly. That grade pays $19 on a 128GB. Pick Faulty when you quote and nothing changes when it reaches us.

No. The KEY2 uses an LCD panel, and burn-in is an OLED problem. An LCD has a backlight shining through a liquid crystal layer, and there is nothing in it to wear unevenly. So there is no burn-in test on this phone and no burn-in question in our inspection. If you are used to checking a Samsung or a Pixel for a ghosted status bar, you can skip it here.

Good means light wear you cannot see from arm's length. Hold the phone out at arm's length under a normal room light. If nothing shows, that is Good. If you can see marks but cannot feel them with a fingernail, that is Average. If you can feel them, that is Fair. Any crack or chip at all, or anything on the phone that does not work, is Faulty regardless of how it looks. The keyboard bezel and the rubbery back are where KEY2 wear usually turns up first.

Check the label. BBF100 is a KEY2. BBE100 is a KEY2 LE. Physically the KEY2 has an aluminum frame and feels heavier at 168 g, and its rear cameras are a 12MP wide plus a 12MP telephoto. The LE is lighter at 156 g, built around plastic, and has a 13MP plus 5MP pair. Almost never, and on a phone this old most carriers will not quote it at all, because it is not on their list. We keep quoting the KEY2 because there are people who still want one and will not use anything else. The other thing worth comparing is the drawer. No. Nothing is required in the box on a KEY2. The charger, the cable, the case and the original packaging are not priced in, so sending them adds nothing and only risks losing them. Send the phone on its own.

There is no battery percentage rule on this phone. We are not going to send you looking for a battery health screen. What matters is whether the battery works. If it will not hold a charge, cuts out partway through the day or needs a cable to stay alive, that is a functionality issue and the phone grades Faulty. A battery that simply is not new is fine.

Not while the lock is on. A Google account lock, sometimes called FRP, stops anyone else from setting the phone up, so it has no resale life and we cannot buy it at any grade. Sign in, remove the account, then do a factory reset from Settings. Blacklisted, reported lost or stolen, and carrier blocked phones are also refused. If a lock turns up at inspection we mail it back free.

We cannot put a price on that one, and the reason is practical rather than fussy. A phone with no power cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it. What we can do is recycle it for free, wiped to DoD standards on arrival, or mail it straight back to you. Both cost you nothing. Charge it for an hour first though, because a KEY2 that has sat flat for a year sometimes needs that before it shows any sign of life.
