We pay between $6 and $82 for an iPhone SE (2nd Gen). Capacity, condition, and carrier are the three selections that change the price.
Usually an Unlocked item pays more than a carrier locked item (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc). Carrier locked means the phone runs on one network only, until that network releases it. This model is the exception, and it is worth money to you. We checked all ninety prices on it. Verizon pays more than unlocked in ten of the eighteen squares, pays the same in six, and is behind in only two. AT&T, T-Mobile and Other sit below unlocked everywhere. So set the network your phone is really on. If it is a Verizon phone, guessing unlocked costs you money.
Most people call this a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and the difference shows up in which way a surprise points. Every surprise in the carrier version arrives late and arrives downward. The phone is already at the counter, or already in their warehouse, and the number drops. The surprise on this page runs the other way. Your Verizon lock, the thing everyone treats as a discount, is worth more to us than no lock at all on most of this grid. We could have quietly paid you the unlocked figure and nobody would have asked. It is printed instead.
Before you quote, make sure you have the right SE. Apple has put that name on three different phones, and two of them look identical across a table. The quick test is 5G. Open Settings, tap Cellular, then Cellular Data Options. A 5G setting in there means you are holding the iPhone SE (3rd Gen), which is worth more. No 5G option, and an A13 chip, means this page is the right one.
Now the part that decides your grade on this model. The round button below the screen reads your fingerprint, and Apple calls that Touch ID. What matters here is how it is fitted. Apple marries that one button to that one logic board on the assembly line. The pairing is one to one, and nobody outside Apple can redo it. A button taken from another SE will click and act like a home button forever, and it will never read a finger again.
So test it now, before you pick a condition. Lock the screen. Press the home button once and rest your finger on it without moving. If the phone opens, Touch ID is alive. If it clicks but never recognizes you, go to Settings, then Touch ID and Passcode, and try to add a fingerprint. A button that clicks perfectly and still refuses to enroll a finger was swapped at some point, possibly years ago by an owner before you.
Two of our rules land on that one small part. Touch ID that will not read your finger grades the phone Faulty. A button that has stopped clicking grades it Faulty as well. Either one takes the phone to the lowest grade however clean the glass is. Ten seconds now beats a surprise at inspection.
The rest is short. We buy an iPhone SE (2nd Gen) working or broken, cracked or clean, and Faulty is a row with money in it. A phone that will not power on is the one we cannot price, because it cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it. We will recycle that one for free and wipe it on the way. HOW A BUYBACK WORKS
Test the home button and Touch ID first, because that one check can move you five rows down the table. Then choose 64GB, 128GB or 256GB, pick the carrier the phone is actually on, and pick the grade that matches the wear. The Buyback price you accept is locked for 14 days.
A prepaid USPS label arrives by email. Sign out of iCloud so Find My releases the phone, erase it from Settings, and put it in a padded envelope. Ask and we will send you a box. Keep the cable and the old case, we cannot pay for either.
Your SE goes through inspection within 48 hours of landing with us. If it is the phone you described, the money leaves the same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every handset gets a DoD-grade wipe here, bought or recycled.

IPHONE SE 2ND GEN QUESTIONS
Storage, wear and carrier decide it. An unlocked 256GB in Good condition pays $47. Drop that same phone to Fair and it is $28. A 64GB with a cracked screen still pays $6. Use the quote tool at the top of the page for your exact one.
This is the question we get most, and no wonder. Both are 4.7 inches, both have the round home button, both have a glass back and a single camera. Three ways to settle it. One, look for 5G: Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Options. A 5G section means 3rd Gen. Two, read the model number in Settings, General, About. A2275, A2296 and A2298 are the 2nd Gen. A2595, A2782, A2783, A2784 and A2785 are the 3rd. Three, check the price difference, because it is not small. The iPhone SE (3rd Gen) page carries its own live numbers and they run well above these.
Apple reused the iPhone 8 shell for this SE, so from the outside they are the same phone. The reliable answer is the model number in Settings, General, About. A2275, A2296 or A2298 is the SE. A1863, A1905 or A1906 is an iPhone 8. Get this one right before you send anything, because the SE pays several times what the 8 does.
Then the phone grades Faulty. Touch ID is the only biometric way into this model, so it has to work for any grade above the bottom row. Choose Faulty in the quote and nothing changes when the phone reaches us. Hiding it does not work, because Touch ID is one of the first things our technicians try.
Yes, and it is permanent. Apple pairs the home button to the logic board when the phone is built, so a button from another handset will click and act as a home button but will never read a fingerprint again. No repair shop can pair a new one. If your button clicks but Touch ID refuses to enroll a finger, that is almost certainly what happened, and the correct grade is Faulty. You can still sell it, and the price is in the bottom row of the table.
Yes, at the Faulty price. Any crack or chip counts, and it counts anywhere: front glass, back glass, or the little lens cover over the camera. This model has glass on both sides so it can charge wirelessly, so turn it over and look at the back in raking light before you decide. There is no small crack allowance.
Under 80 percent it grades Faulty, and the same goes for a service battery message. Read yours in Settings, Battery, Battery Health and Charging. This model catches people out more than most, because it has a small battery in a phone that is now several years old, and plenty of them have slipped into the seventies without the owner noticing.
Not on this model, which surprises people. A Verizon 256GB in Brand New condition pays $89 against $82 for the unlocked version. That is not a one-off. We compared all eighteen squares of the grid. Verizon is ahead in ten of them, level in six, and behind in only two, both of those on the 128GB at the two cleanest grades. Verizon leads at every grade below Flawless on the 64GB and the 128GB. AT&T, T-Mobile and Other are below unlocked everywhere, so this is a Verizon effect and not a general one. Do not guess. Pick the carrier the phone is genuinely on, and if you honestly do not know, choose Other and we will confirm it at inspection.
Not for money. A phone with no power cannot be tested and your data cannot be cleared off it, so there is nothing we can responsibly put a price against. What we can do is take it off your hands for nothing: send it on a free label and we will wipe and recycle it properly, or mail it straight back to you, also free. Try a different Lightning cable and a wall plug for fifteen minutes first, because a dead battery and a dead phone look the same.
No, not while money is still owed on it. A handset on a carrier installment plan or a lease counts as being under a financial obligation, and those are not ones we can buy. Settle the balance, own it outright, then quote it here like any other phone.
No. Every grade on this page, right down to Faulty, needs the ESN to come back clean. Reported lost or stolen, blacklisted, blocked by a carrier, or still signed in to somebody's Apple Account all fail that check, and the phone goes back to you at our cost. Signing out of iCloud before you post it is the fix for the last one.
A carrier trade-in normally pays you in bill credit, spread over 24 or 36 months, and you have to stay on the plan to collect all of it. A Buyback is cash for the phone, sent the day it clears inspection, and there is nothing to stay signed up to. Our number comes from three things and three only: storage, condition and carrier.

Settings, then General, then About, and read the Model Number line. A2275 is the phone Apple sold in the United States and Canada. A2296 covers other countries and regions, and A2298 is the China mainland version. All three are an iPhone SE (2nd Gen) and all three quote at the same price here. If you read A2595 or A2783 instead, you have the SE 3rd Gen.
Four choices, and you pick at checkout. A gift card averages about 3 percent above the cash figure because the brands add a bonus on top. PayPal is instant, though PayPal takes its own 2.99 percent fee out of it. A bank transfer lands in 2 to 4 days and a mailed check in 3 to 5. Back up whatever you want to keep, then open Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Erase All Content and Settings. It will ask for your Apple Account password, and typing that in is what actually switches Find My off and releases the phone. Do it before it leaves you, not after.
