An iPad 6 is worth between $4 and $36, with every grade in between set out in the table below. Small money. We are not going to inflate it or bury it below three paragraphs of warm-up. This is a 2018 tablet and it prices like one. What it is worth more than is sitting in a drawer, and finding out costs you a minute and no postage.
The word people search for is trade-in. On a tablet this cheap the more useful comparison is with selling it yourself. A local listing on a twenty dollar iPad means photographs, a week of messages, somebody haggling over five dollars and a stranger in a parking lot. A Buyback is us buying it from you. The label is free, nothing is deducted at the end, and nobody negotiates. That is what makes a small number worth collecting at all. The work has to cost less than the money, and here it does.
The iPad 6 is the first cheap iPad Apple let you draw on. Until 2018 the Apple Pencil belonged to the iPad Pro. Then it arrived on the $329 school iPad, and an awful lot of these tablets spent the next few years as sketchbooks and homework machines.
That matters for your grade, because a Pencil is hard plastic dragged across glass and it drags whatever dust is on the screen along with it. The marks are fine enough to miss looking straight on. Tilt the iPad 6 under a lamp, then run a fingernail slowly across the middle of the screen. If your nail catches, that is Fair. If it glides, that is Average. Our line between those two grades is exactly that test: Average is wear you cannot feel with a fingernail, Fair is wear you can.
The Pencil is also how you settle which iPad you actually have. Hold a first generation Apple Pencil against an iPad 5 and it will never pair, because the iPad 5 cannot use one. The iPad 6 will. Going the other direction, the iPad 7 has a bigger 10.2-inch screen and three small metal dots on its left edge for a keyboard. The iPad 6 has a 9.7-inch screen and a bare edge.
A WiFi + Cellular iPad 6 pays about $2 more than the WiFi one at most grades, a dollar more at Fair, and exactly the same at Faulty. Two dollars is not exciting, but on a tablet priced like this it is a real slice of the total, and the highest number on the page belongs to a Cellular one. Where to sell an iPad 6 in 2026 is really a question of who still takes one. We do, working or broken, and a broken iPad 6 gets a real number rather than a rejection. The exception is one that will not power on. We cannot test it and we cannot clear your data off it, so we will not price it. It comes down to storage, connectivity and wear. A 128GB WiFi iPad 6 in Good condition is $25. The same one at Average is $20. A 32GB with a cracked screen still pays $4. Try an Apple Pencil first. A first generation Pencil pairs with an iPad 6 and will not pair with an iPad 5, because the iPad 5 has no support for one. That single test separates the two 9.7-inch tablets faster than anything else. Telling it from the newer model is easier still: the iPad 7 has a 10.2-inch screen and three metal contact dots along its left edge, while the iPad 6 is 9.7 inches with a bare edge. If you have the newer one, its page carries its own prices.
Turn the tablet over and read the small print near the bottom. A1893 is the WiFi only iPad 6. A1954 is the WiFi + Cellular one. Apple lists only those two for this generation, with no separate China or Japan version to worry about, so whichever you find, you are on the right page.
Yes. Any crack or chip, front glass, aluminum back or the camera lens cover, moves the iPad into Faulty. That is still a price. A 32GB pays $4 in that condition and a 128GB pays $5. Pick Faulty when you quote, describe it honestly, and the figure holds when it reaches us.
Use your fingernail. Drag it slowly across the scratched area. If the nail catches on the marks, the iPad is Fair. If it slides over them, it is Average. That is not a rough guide, it is the actual rule we grade by, and Pencil owners are the people most likely to be sitting right on the line. Scratches never make a tablet Faulty on their own. Only a crack or a chip does that.
Either one takes the iPad to Faulty. The button has to click and register, and Touch ID has to recognize your fingerprint. This catches people out because the tablet still looks perfect from the outside. Press it and open the tablet with your finger before you choose a grade, and you will know where you stand in about ten seconds.
Below 80 percent it grades Faulty, and so does any iPad showing a service battery message. An iPad 6 will not show you a health figure, because Apple never put one on iPads this old and this model cannot run the software that has it. Judge it by what the tablet does instead. A battery that will not last an afternoon, that cuts out at 20 or 30 percent, or that has to stay on the cable to stay awake is under 80 percent. On an eight year old tablet that is common, so check before you quote rather than after. Choose Faulty and the price you are shown is the price you get.
A little. A Cellular iPad 6 sits about $2 above the WiFi one through most grades, drops to a dollar at Fair, and pays exactly the same at Faulty. That is why the best price on this page is $38 rather than $36. Which network it was on is irrelevant, since iPads have no carrier lock. One thing does apply only to Cellular models: the IMEI has to be clean, and you will find it under Settings, General, About.
That is the one we have to say no to. A tablet with no power cannot be tested and, more importantly, your photos and accounts cannot be cleared off it, so we will not put a number on it. We will still take it off your hands for nothing: ship it on our free label and we recycle it responsibly with a DoD-grade wipe, or ask for it back and we return it free.
Not while payments are still running. A tablet on a monthly plan or a lease counts as being under a financial obligation, and those are not ones we can buy. Clear the balance first, then it quotes normally.
No. There are two separate requirements here and it is worth knowing which one applies to you.
Activation Lock must be off on every iPad 6, WiFi or Cellular. You clear it by signing out of iCloud and erasing the tablet. Skip that step and the iPad comes back to you unpaid.
A clean IMEI is required on WiFi + Cellular models only, because a WiFi iPad 6 does not have an IMEI. Reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a carrier, fails that check and we cannot take it.
Open Settings, tap General, then Transfer or Reset iPad, then Erase All Content and Settings. Typing in your Apple Account password when it asks is the part that actually turns Activation Lock off. Do it before the tablet leaves the house. Our erase your device page walks through it with screenshots. We wipe every iPad to DoD standards on arrival as well, but yours has to come off first.
No, keep them. Accessories are not part of the quote, so a first generation Apple Pencil, a folio or a cable adds nothing to your payment. On this model that is worth a second thought: a used Apple Pencil often fetches more on its own than a Faulty iPad 6 does here, so sell it separately rather than putting it in the box.
