Almost certainly not. That line is the crease, and every Galaxy Z Fold ever built has one. The inner screen is a single flexible panel that bends in half every time you shut the phone, and the material remembers where it bends.

Samsung's own support answer puts it plainly: the crease is a normal characteristic of the foldable design and the ultra thin glass it uses, it is not a defect, and it does not affect the display's quality, lifespan or performance. A crack looks different. A crack catches your fingernail, throws off little branch lines, and usually shows as a bright line when the screen is off. A crease is a smooth valley you can only see at an angle.

No. Not one grade, not one dollar. Grade your Fold 6 on scratches, dents, cracks, burn-in and anything that has stopped working, and ignore the fold line completely.

Four things, and you can check all of them in under a minute with the phone open flat.

A crack or a chip anywhere in the panel, including one running along the crease itself, grades Faulty. Burn-in grades Faulty, so put a plain white image on full brightness and look for a ghost of the clock or the keyboard. A dead patch grades Faulty, so drag a finger slowly across the whole screen including over the fold and make sure it tracks the whole way. And an area that has stopped lighting up, gone green, or shows a bright vertical bar is a panel failure, which is Faulty too. Everything else is cosmetic and belongs in the normal grades.

No marks at all. Take the case off, take it to a window, and look at the cover screen, the back, the frame and the hinge cheeks. Then run a fingernail across all four. Flawless means nothing to see and nothing to feel, with the crease and the factory screen protector both excluded from that judgment. If you find one hairline scuff on the frame, you are looking at Good, and Good is still a strong number on this phone.

It matters twice, because a Fold 6 has two OLED panels. Burn-in on either one grades Faulty even if the phone is otherwise perfect. Check the 7.6-inch inner screen and the 6.3-inch cover screen separately: brightness up, plain white image, dim room, look across the glass at an angle for a faint ghost of the clock, the battery icon or the keyboard. Most people only think to check the big one.

It depends what you are hearing and feeling. A soft sound as the phone opens is normal on a Fold, and a slight gap at the outer edges when it is shut is normal too. What is not normal is grinding, catching, a hinge that flops open under its own weight instead of holding the angle you set, or halves that will not sit flat against each other. Any of those is a functionality issue and a Samsung phone with a functionality issue grades Faulty.

No, and please do not. The S Pen was never in the Fold 6 box and it is not part of what we buy, unlike an S Pen on a Galaxy S Ultra where a missing one drops the phone to Faulty. There is no equivalent rule on a Fold. Chargers, cables, cases and boxes are not priced in either. Send us the phone on its own and keep the rest.

There is no percentage rule and no battery health screen you need to go and photograph. That is an Apple thing and it does not carry across. On a Fold 6 the battery only touches your grade if it has actually failed, because a device that does not work grades Faulty. Shorter life than it had in 2024 is just a four year old battery doing what batteries do.
