Now the thing that catches Galaxy Z Flip4 sellers out, and it is not the big screen.
The strip of glass on the front of a closed Flip4 is a 1.9 inch OLED display. It is a real screen, not a window. And because it is a screen you almost never interact with, most people never think to inspect it. They open the phone, check the 6.7 inch panel, decide it looks fine, and pick a grade.
That little panel is the one most likely to have burn-in on this phone. It sits lit, on the outside, showing the same clock in the same position, day after day, for years. A small OLED with one bright static element in one fixed spot is exactly the recipe. And burn-in is Faulty on a Samsung, regardless of how well the rest of the phone works.
Test it in thirty seconds. Find a plain white image and open it full screen on that 1.9 inch cover display. Go somewhere dim and tilt the phone slowly. If a clock outline, a date, a notification shape or a faint band shows through the white, that is burn-in. Then open the phone and do the same on the inner screen.
While you have it open, the line down the middle of the inner screen is the crease. It is not a crack and it is not damage. Samsung's own description is a normal characteristic of a device designed with a flexible display, one that does not affect the display's quality, lifespan or performance. It does not change your grade at all.
Something else worth saying about a Flip4 specifically, because it saves people from grading themselves down for nothing. This phone does not close flat. Fold a Galaxy Z Flip4 shut and the two halves meet in a slight wedge, wider at the hinge end. That is how Samsung built it. The flat close arrived with the next generation, when Samsung redesigned the hinge and described the change as virtually removing the gap. So on a Flip4, a visible gap when shut is normal and costs you nothing.
What is a hinge fault: open the phone slowly, stop it around halfway and let go. It should hold. If it flops shut or pushes itself open, the hinge has worn out, and that is a functionality issue, which on a Samsung means Faulty. Same answer for a hinge that grinds, sticks, or will not open all the way.
The rest is quick. Any crack or chip is Faulty, and the inner screen counts as much as the cover screen, the back or a lens cover. Anything else that has stopped working, a speaker, a button, a camera, the charging port, is Faulty too. We buy them used, we buy them broken, and shipping is free either way. A prepaid USPS label arrives by email. Remove your Google account from the phone, run the factory reset, then take the SIM out. Send it folded, wrapped in something soft, in a box you can pad. Keep the charger and the case, they add nothing to the number.

Open it slowly and stop somewhere near halfway, then take your hand away. A working hinge holds that angle. One that has worn out will let the phone drop shut or push itself further open, and that counts as a functionality issue, so the phone grades Faulty.
Also open it fully and lay it on a table. The halves should be level with each other and should not rock. And listen for grinding or catching as it moves, which is different from the faint click Samsung says is normal on a hinge.
A Flip gets opened far more often than a Fold does, because you open it every time you want to use the phone at all, so the hinge on a four year old Flip4 has done a lot of work. Two minutes of checking is worth it.

SM-F711U or SM-F711U1 is a Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. Storage helps too: 512GB was only ever a Flip4, and the Flip3 topped out at 256GB. No. There is no 80 percent battery rule on Samsung phones here and no battery health screen for you to find. A four year old Flip with a battery that does not last like it used to is not Faulty for that reason. It only becomes Faulty if the battery has genuinely stopped working, and that is covered by the same rule as everything else that has stopped working.
Good is light wear you would not notice at arm's length. Hold it folded at reading distance in daylight and see if anything jumps out. Average is a step down, marks you can see close up but cannot feel with a fingernail. Fair is heavy wear you can feel, no cracks or chips. Flawless is nothing at all. On a Flip the wear turns up first on the outer edge of the lid and on the frame either side of the hinge, so look there before you decide.
They do not. Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, Blue and every Bespoke Edition combination quote at exactly the same number. Samsung sold seventy five Bespoke combinations on this model and none of them is worth more to us than another. Pick your storage and your grade and ignore the finish.
Yes. Select your carrier in the quote box and it gets priced for that network, which is not always the same as the unlocked figures in the table on this page. A network lock is fine. What we cannot buy is a phone that is blacklisted, reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a carrier over an unpaid bill, and those are separate things from being carrier locked.
Not while a balance is outstanding. A phone on an installment plan or a lease is under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Settle it, own it, then quote it. On a phone this age the balance is usually small or already finished.
No. A Google account lock, an FRP lock or a tripped Knox counter means nobody but you can set the phone up, so we cannot buy it at any grade at all. Blacklisted and stolen phones get the same answer. Avoiding it is simple: remove your Google account from the phone first, then run the factory reset. If one reaches us locked we mail it back free.
Order matters more than people expect. Settings, Accounts and backup, Manage accounts, remove your Google account. Then Settings, General management, Reset, Factory data reset.
