First, the thing every foldable seller worries about. There is a faint line across the middle of the inner screen. That is the crease, it is on every Galaxy Z Flip ever made, and it is not damage. Samsung's own words are that it is a normal characteristic of a device designed with a flexible display and that it does not affect the display's quality, lifespan or performance. It does not move your grade. Do not pick Faulty because of it.
Now the part that is specific to this phone. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 4.1 inch FlexWindow on the outside, running right to the edges of the lid and around the cameras. That is the largest cover screen Samsung has put on a Flip, and it is a full Super AMOLED panel, not a strip. Fold the phone open and the inner screen is 6.9 inches. No other Flip has either number.
Two OLED panels means two burn-in checks, and burn-in is Faulty on a Samsung whatever else is going on with the phone. The cover screen is the one at risk here, because it sits there lit with the same clock in the same place all day. Test it properly: open a plain white image full screen on the FlexWindow, in a dim room, and look across it at an angle. A clock outline, a notification bar, a ghost of the wallpaper, any of those is burn-in. Then open the phone and do the same on the inner screen.
Next the hinge, and this one is a physical test rather than a look. Open the phone slowly and stop it at about halfway. It should stay there on its own. Let go and if it flops shut or drifts open, the hinge is worn. Open it fully and check the two halves sit flat against each other with no step between them. Close it and it should meet with no real gap. A hinge that has stopped doing its job is a functionality issue, and on a Samsung any functionality issue is Faulty. Flip owners rack up more hinge cycles than Fold owners do, because you open a Flip every single time you want the phone.
The rest is short. Any crack or chip is Faulty, and on a Flip that includes the inner screen, the cover screen, the back glass and the camera lens covers. An inner screen is still a screen. And anything on the phone that has stopped working is Faulty too, which is a principle rather than a list: a dead speaker, a button that no longer clicks, a camera that will not focus, a charging port that has to be wiggled.

Two minutes, no tools. Open the phone slowly and stop around halfway. It should hold that angle by itself. If it sags shut or springs open, the hinge is worn and the phone grades Faulty, because on a Samsung anything that has stopped working properly is Faulty.
Then open it all the way and lay it on a table. The two halves should sit flat, with no step or twist where they meet. Close it and look along the edge. It should shut with no real gap on a phone this new.
One thing that is not a fault: a faint click or a bit of friction as the hinge moves. Samsung says that is the metal parts working against each other and is normal. What matters is whether it holds, opens and closes.
Measure the outside screen with your eye. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 4.1 inch FlexWindow that runs all the way to the edges of the lid. The FE has a 3.4 inch one with a visible black border around it, the same as a Galaxy Z Flip 6. Open them up and the Flip 7 is 6.9 inches inside while the FE is 6.7. Yes, burn-in is Faulty on a Samsung. Both panels count on a Flip, and on this generation the FlexWindow is the one to watch, because a 4.1 inch always-on cover screen sits lit with the same clock in the same corner for hours a day. Check it like this: put a plain white image full screen on the cover display, stand in a dim room and tilt the phone. Anything ghosted into the white, a clock, a bar, a shape, is burn-in. Open the phone and repeat on the inner screen. If either one shows it, pick Faulty.
Good means light wear that you would not spot at arm's length. Hold the phone out, folded, at reading distance, and look at it in ordinary daylight. If nothing jumps out, that is Good. Average is a step down: marks you can see up close but cannot feel with a fingernail. Fair is heavy wear you can feel, with no cracks or chips anywhere. Flawless means no marks at all. And any crack, chip or broken function drops it straight to Faulty regardless of the rest.
No. There is no 80 percent rule on Samsung phones and no battery health screen we ask you to read. Do not go looking for one. Battery only matters if it has actually stopped working, and then it is caught by the same rule as everything else: something on the phone does not work, so the phone is Faulty. A battery that holds a normal day makes no difference to your grade.

Yes. Carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 7s are bought and priced, just not always at the unlocked figure, so choose your network in the quote box rather than picking Unlocked and hoping. What we cannot buy is a phone that is blacklisted, reported lost or stolen, or blocked by the carrier for non-payment, and those are a different thing from being locked to a network.
