SELL YOUR GALAXY S10 LITE
A Galaxy S10 Lite is worth $7 to $51 right now. That is not a big number and we are not going to dress it up. It is a six year old mid range phone, and the table below is the whole of it.
Carriers call this a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and the gap is wider than the word. Their offer is credit dripped onto your bill over two or three years, and only while you stay with them. Ours is a purchase. The phone becomes ours, the money becomes yours, and after that neither of us owes the other anything.
Now the thing about this phone that nobody expects.
There is only one Galaxy S10 Lite in the United States. Not one popular version, one version. Look at Settings, About phone, Model number and it says SM-G770U1. Every US Galaxy S10 Lite says that. There is no SM-G770U, no AT&T code, no Verizon code, no T-Mobile code.
The U1 on the end is Samsung's own marking for a phone sold factory unlocked. A carrier phone drops the 1 and just ends in U. So the absence of that code is the story: Samsung never put this phone in a carrier store here. It arrived unlocked, in 128GB, and that was the only way to buy it.
Which makes checking your model number the fastest thing you can do before you sell. If yours reads SM-G770U1 you are holding the US phone and the numbers on this page are yours. If it reads SM-G770F, or anything else, you have an imported one, and it is still worth quoting, it came from another market.
After that it is condition, and on a Samsung the rule is short. Any crack or chip anywhere, front, back or over a camera lens, is Faulty, however well the phone works. And anything on the phone that has stopped working is Faulty too. That second one is a principle rather than a list: a dead speaker, a button that no longer clicks, a camera that will not focus, all of it lands in the same row.
So before you pick a grade, spend two minutes on it. Play a video with the volume up and listen to both speakers. Press every button twice. Open the camera and tap through 0.5x and 1x. Plug the charger in and watch it take. Then look at the glass in a raking light, front and back, and run a fingernail over anything you are unsure about, because a scratch glides and a chip catches.

HOW IT WORKS
Check Settings, About phone, Model number first, then pick your size, your network and your grade. Do the two minute function check before you choose the grade, because on a Samsung one part that has stopped working moves you further than any amount of scuffing. Accept the number and it is held for 14 days.
A prepaid USPS label comes to you by email. Take your Google account off the phone first, then factory reset it, then take the memory card and the SIM out of the tray. Wrap it in something soft and pad the box. Keep the charger and the case, neither is priced in.
A person checks it by hand within 48 hours of it arriving, and we tell you what we found. If it matches your description the money goes out the same day, by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every device is wiped to Department of Defense standards on arrival, including the ones we recycle rather than buy.

Condition decides all of it, because there is only one size to sell here. Good is $36, Average is $29, Fair is $22 and one with a crack in it is $7. A spotless one is $51. Small money, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. The quote box at the top of the page gives you your own figure.
Settings, About phone, Model number. SM-G770 is the Galaxy S10 Lite. The U means it was built for the United States. The 1 on the end is Samsung's marking for a factory unlocked phone, and a carrier phone would end in U with no 1. Since SM-G770U1 is the only US code Samsung ever issued for this model, every US Galaxy S10 Lite is an unlocked one.
Lay it flat and look across the screen. The Galaxy S10 Lite is flat, 6.7 inches, and 186 grams. The Galaxy S10 is 6.1 inches and its glass curves away at both long edges, so a straight edge laid across it rocks. If it is small and flat with two rear cameras you have the Galaxy S10e, and if it is large and curved you have the Galaxy S10 Plus. The model number ends it either way: SM-G770U1 is the Lite and nothing else is.
You choose when you accept the quote. A gift card averages about 3 percent above the cash number, because the brands add their own bonus, and on figures this small that bonus is worth having. PayPal is instant and PayPal takes its 2.99 percent fee. A bank transfer is 2 to 4 days. A check is 3 to 5. Brand New is the one grade we can only pay through PayPal, and since Brand New and Flawless pay the same here, an opened phone with no marks is better quoted as Flawless.
Samsung built the Galaxy S10 Lite in two sizes, 128GB and 512GB, and only the 128GB one was ever sold in the US. So a 512GB here is an imported phone, usually an SM-G770F. Put it through the quote box, which has that size in it. If the number that comes back looks wrong to you, email us before you post anything and a person will look at it rather than leaving you guessing.
Pick your network in the quote box the same as anyone else would. It is worth knowing that Samsung never sold a carrier version of this model here, so a US Galaxy S10 Lite on a network is almost always an unlocked phone somebody put a carrier SIM into, and picking Unlocked will usually be the accurate answer. If you are not sure, dial the carrier or check Settings, Connections, and tell us what you find. We check by hand and we would rather have it right before it ships.
Light wear you cannot pick out at arm's length. Hold it at reading distance in ordinary room light: if nothing jumps at you, that is Good. If you can see the marks from there but a fingernail glides straight over them, that is Average. If your nail catches on them, that is Fair. And any crack or chip at all, however small, is Faulty regardless of the rest. Six year old phones are usually Average or Fair, and there is no shame in picking one of those.
Yes, and a crack anywhere puts it in Faulty, which here is $7. It does not matter that the phone still works. Take the screen protector off before you decide, because a cracked protector over unbroken glass catches people out constantly. Yes, it drops the phone to Faulty. Every Galaxy S has an OLED panel and this one has had six years of the same status bar in the same pixels, so it is worth a proper look. Quick version: brightness to maximum, a plain white image, a dim room, then tilt the phone and look across the surface for a ghost of the clock or the navigation buttons. No. There is no 80 percent line on a Samsung and no battery health screen to go hunting for, so do not go looking. A battery only touches your grade if it has actually stopped doing its job, and at that point it is caught by the same rule that catches a dead speaker.
Not for money. With no power we cannot test it and we cannot clear your data off it, and we will not pay for a phone we cannot check or hand back one with your photos still on it. We will recycle it for free with a Department of Defense grade wipe, or post it back to you for free. On a phone worth this little, free recycling is often the sensible answer and we will say so.
Not while there is money owed on it. A phone on an installment plan or a lease is under a financial obligation, and we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. Clear it and the phone quotes like any other.
No, and these are separate checks rather than one. Reported lost or stolen, blacklisted or carrier blocked is a no. A Google account lock or an FRP lock is a no, because whoever gets it next can never get in. A tripped Knox counter is a no as well. Remove your Google account first and factory reset second, and the FRP lock never shows up.
Usually neither is much, and at this age most carriers will not take the phone at all. Where they do, a trade-in is credit spread across your bill for two or three years and it disappears if you switch networks. A Buyback is one payment, in money, sent the day the inspection clears. Get both numbers before you decide, and if ours is the smaller one, take theirs.
Google account off first, then reset. Settings, Accounts and backup, Manage accounts, remove your Google account, then Settings, General management, Reset, Factory data reset. Pull the memory card and the SIM out of the tray while you are at it, since they share one. Our erase guide walks the screens.
