SELL YOUR GALAXY A71 5G
A Galaxy A71 5G pays between $5 and $41. Small money, and we would rather be blunt than cheerful about it. This is a 2020 phone. Six years is a long life for an Android and the used market prices it that way.
Most people call it a trade-in. We call it a Buyback, and here's why the price is different. The carrier never sees the phone. We do: checked by hand, wiped to Department of Defense standards, tracked out and back, and you get told exactly what we found before any money moves.
The 71 in the name is doing a lot of work and none of it is what people assume. It was the top of Samsung's A range when it landed, the big screen, the big number, the phone you bought when a Galaxy S was out of reach. Six years later it is the oldest phone on our A series pages and it pays less than a Galaxy A26, a phone whose number sounds a third as important. The number was never a rank and it was never a year.
It is also the phone most likely to be carrying something you cannot see. The A71's Super AMOLED Plus panel is the oldest screen of the group, and old OLED holds ghosts: the clock, the navigation bar, a game overlay that lived in one corner for two years. Burn-in makes a phone Faulty however well it works, so run a plain white image full screen at full brightness before you pick a grade. Five seconds, and it is the single most common surprise on a phone this age.
Sell your Galaxy A71 5G here whatever shape it is in. Working, cracked, dropped, forgotten in a drawer since 2022. If it will not power on we cannot buy it, since we cannot test it or wipe your data off it, but the free recycling offer stands and the postage is still on us.
LIVE PRICES
The used resale value of a Galaxy A71 5G runs from $5 for a cracked one to $41 for one that has never been opened. One size only, 128GB, so the row you pick is the whole decision.
The figures are live from our price feed. Accept one and it is held for 14 days.
| Comparison row | 128GB |
|---|---|
Brand New | $41 |
Flawless | $41 |
Good | $26 |
Average | $21 |
Fair | $16 |
Faulty | $5 |
HOW IT WORKS
Choose your carrier and your condition. Do the white screen check first on a phone this old, because burn-in decides the grade before any scratch does. The Buyback price you accept is held for 14 days.
We email you a prepaid USPS label. Sign out of your Google account, switch off Find My Mobile, take out the SIM and the memory card, then factory reset. Post the phone alone. Six year old chargers and cases add nothing to the price.
The phone is inspected within 48 hours of arriving. If it matches your description, payment leaves that day: gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Every phone gets a Department of Defense wipe, including the ones we recycle rather than buy.

GALAXY A71 5G BUYBACK QUESTIONS
One storage size, so condition is everything. Marks you can see but not feel with a fingernail put it at $21. Wear that vanishes at arm's length is $26. Never opened is $41. The quote tool at the top of this page gives you the exact number for your phone in about a minute.
Because the number is not a rank and never was. The A71 was the flagship of the A range in 2020, and that is exactly the problem: 2020. The A26 is a cheaper phone by design and five years newer, and age beats tier every time in the used market.
The first digit of a Galaxy A name is the tier and the second is the generation. A71 means top tier, first generation of that naming run. It does not mean the phone is seven times anything.
Settings, then About phone, then read the model number. SM-A716U is the US Galaxy A71 5G. SM-A716V is the same phone as Verizon sold it, badged Galaxy A71 5G UW. SM-A716B is the international 5G version. If yours reads SM-A715F you have the 4G Galaxy A71, which is a different phone and does not quote on this page. Getting this wrong is the most common reason a quote and an inspection disagree on an A71.
Probably, on a phone this old. Put a plain white image on the screen, full brightness, in a dim room. Ghosts of a status bar, a keyboard or an app you left open for months will show as faint gray or colored shapes. That is burn-in and it makes the phone Faulty even though everything works. The step by step version, testing color by color, is on our Galaxy S23 Plus page. What is not burn-in: a single stuck pixel, or a color shift you only see when you tilt the phone.
Yes, and it is priced rather than refused. A cracked A71 pays $5. Any crack or chip counts, front, back or a camera lens cover, and it counts even if the phone is otherwise perfect. Pick Faulty at the quote step and the figure you see is the figure you are paid.
Tell us, and expect Faulty. An aftermarket display is not the panel the phone left the factory with, and on a six year old phone a replacement is common. The giveaways are a slightly different white balance, a gap along one edge, or a fingerprint reader under the glass that suddenly wants more presses than it used to. That last one matters: if the reader has stopped working properly, the phone is Faulty on the functionality rule alone.
Not by itself. There is no battery percentage rule on Samsung phones with us, no health screen to check, no cutoff to worry about. A 2020 battery that gets you to lunchtime is normal and it is already priced in. Only a battery that has actually failed changes the grade, and it changes it because a failed part means Faulty, not because of any percentage.
Light wear you can see close up but cannot feel. Drag a fingernail across the screen and the frame: if nothing catches, Average is your row even if the phone looks tired in daylight. If the nail catches, that is Fair. Most six year old phones that lived in a pocket without a case are Fair, and choosing Fair honestly beats choosing Average hopefully and having it regraded here.
Yes, at that carrier's own price rather than the one in the table above. Choose AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon or Other in the quote tool to see it. The Verizon A71 5G UW is quoted the same way. If the phone is long since paid off, and after six years it almost certainly is, your carrier will usually release it for free on request.
Not while a balance remains. We do not purchase devices under financial obligations, which covers installment plans and leases. On a phone this old the plan has usually run its course, but it is worth checking your account before you post it, because a phone that is still owed on gets sent back to you rather than paid for.
Any of the three and we cannot buy at any price. FRP means the phone still wants the previous Google account after a reset, so nobody else can set it up. Take the Google account off and turn Find My Mobile off before you reset, in that order, and it never happens.
A Knox counter tripped by rooting or custom firmware is permanent, and older phones like this one were rooted far more often than new ones are. An IMEI reported lost, stolen or blocked by a carrier fails the same way. All of these come back to you free rather than being kept.
Recycle it through us for nothing. We cannot buy a phone that will not power up, because there is no way to test what works or to clear your data off it, and we will not put a number on a guess. Send it on the free label instead. It gets a Department of Defense wipe if the storage can still be reached and is then broken down properly rather than going in a bin. A free return is the other option.
Rarely. Most carrier programs stop giving meaningful credit for a six year old mid-range Android, and what they do offer is bill credit tied to a new line rather than money. Ours is cash, once, with nothing attached. Check both if you have five minutes. On a phone this age we usually win, and where we do not, take theirs.
Your choice of four. Gift card, which averages about 3 percent more because the brands add a bonus on top. PayPal, instant, with PayPal's own 2.99 percent fee. Bank transfer in 2 to 4 days. A check in 3 to 5. It goes out the same day the phone clears inspection, and inspection happens within 48 hours of arrival. Sealed Brand New phones are PayPal only.
Straight answer: barely, and only because the alternative is nothing. The very top of this page is $41 for a sealed one, which almost nobody has, and a realistic used A71 is in the teens or twenties. That is not a windfall and we are not going to dress it up as one. What it is: free postage, a price held for 14 days, and a phone out of your drawer with the data properly destroyed. If it is dead, take the free recycling. Both beat the drawer.
Carrier, condition, done. The number holds for 14 days and the postage is free either way.
