One configuration, so it comes down to condition. No marks at all is $305. Light wear invisible at arm's length is $250. A unit that has lived on a rig and shows it, with no cracks, is $150. A cracked one, or one where the HDMI input has failed, is $50.

It takes a signal in. Sony labels it the Micro HDMI input port, and the direction is the point of the product: connect a camera or a computer that outputs HDMI and the Xperia becomes the monitor, up to 4K at 24, 30 or 60 fps, through the External monitor app.

From there it does the part that justified the price. The same app streams that incoming feed out over 5G by RTMP, and if you connect an Alpha body over HDMI and USB together you get camera status on the Xperia screen and can start and stop recording from it. The app also accepts USB Video Class sources over USB Type-C.

What it does not do is send a picture out to a television. Anyone expecting HDMI out has the direction backward.

Take two minutes and do it in this order. Connect a camera or a laptop with a certified micro HDMI cable, open External monitor, and wait for the picture. It should appear within a couple of seconds.

With the picture up, lift the cable gently at the connector, about an inch, no force. If the image drops out on movement or only holds at one angle, the socket has a failing joint and that is the same answer as no picture at all. Then shine a light into the port and look for a bent, flattened or missing pin, and feel whether the plug seats with resistance rather than sliding in loose.

If you no longer have a camera to hand, most laptops with an HDMI output will do the job, and so will any set top box. The test is whether the Xperia sees a signal, not what the signal is.

Faulty, which pays $50. Our rule on Android devices is that anything that does not work makes it Faulty, and on this device the HDMI input is not a peripheral feature, it is the reason the product exists. A perfect screen and a clean body do not move it back up. We would rather say that plainly here than have you quote it at the top of the table and hear it from us after inspection.

Look at the bottom edge. The Xperia PRO has two ports down there, USB-C and a micro HDMI input beside it. The PRO-I has only USB-C, because Sony dropped the HDMI socket and routed external monitoring through USB Video Class instead, with an HDMI to UVC adapter for camera work. The other giveaway is the main camera: the PRO-I carries a single large 1.0-type sensor with a switchable aperture, while the PRO has three ordinary 12MP cameras. Yes. Any crack or chip, on the front glass, the back or a camera window, grades it Faulty at $50. That is a price rather than a refusal, and it is a fair way above what most sites will offer for a broken device of any kind. Send it as it is. A screen repair on this model costs more than the grade difference and would grade Faulty afterward anyway.

It can. The panel is OLED, and a device used as a monitor spends hours showing the same overlay, the same histogram, the same framing guides in the same place. That is exactly the workload that leaves a permanent shadow. Check it with brightness high on a plain mid gray image, looking for the outline of your monitoring interface or the status bar. Burn-in grades the device Faulty, and this model is more exposed to it than a normal phone.

No marks at all. Take the case off, hold it under daylight, and tilt it slowly through the light on every face including the frame rails and the corners. Flawless means nothing appears at any angle. Rig rash along the edges from a cage or a clamp is common on these and it is not Flawless, it is Good or below depending on how much of it there is. Nothing here is cracked or chipped, because that is a different row entirely.

No, and there is no percentage threshold on any Android device we buy. Do not look for a health figure, because none of it feeds the quote. The battery only reaches the grade when it stops the device working: shutting down with charge showing, or needing to stay on the cable to stay alive. Given how many of these lived plugged into a power bank on a rig, that is worth checking rather than assuming.

Not for money. Without power we cannot test it, and more to the point we cannot clear your data off it, and on this device that data is often somebody else's footage. We will not quote what we cannot check. Free recycling stands instead: our label, a Department of Defense wipe on whatever we can reach, proper disposal. A free return is the other option.

Settings, System, About phone. XQ-AQ62 is the version sold in the United States and it is the one most sellers here are holding. XQ-AQ52 is the same device for other markets. Both are an Xperia PRO, both quote at the numbers on this page, and neither one changes what you are paid.

None of them, and please keep the memory card. Nothing is required in the box, and accessories are not priced in, so Sony's own case, your HDMI cables, cold shoe adapters, cages and clamps all add nothing to the quote and can go missing in transit. The microSD matters for a different reason: our wipe covers the device's internal storage, not a card, and a card left in the SIM tray on this model tends to be full of client work. Pull the tray, take the card, ship the device on its own.

In practice no carrier lists it. It was sold direct and through professional dealers rather than on contract, so the tables that price consumer phones have no entry for it, and the ones that guess treat it as a generic 6.5 inch Android and pay accordingly. That is the specific reason this page exists. We quote it as an Xperia PRO, in cash, and hold the number for 14 days.

No on all three, and each for its own reason. A Google account lock leaves the device asking for the previous sign-in after a reset, which makes it unusable, so we cannot buy it at any grade. Remove the account before you erase it and that never happens.
