Open the camera, then press the button on the bottom right edge slowly. Halfway down you should feel a distinct catch and see the phone lock focus. All the way down takes the shot. Try it six or seven times, and try it with the screen off as well, because a long press is supposed to launch the camera from cold. If the half press does nothing, if it takes the picture the moment you touch it, or if it needs a hard shove to register, the button has failed. That grades the phone Faulty even if the glass is spotless and everything else works.
Count the circles on the back. The Xperia 1 II has three camera lenses in a vertical strip. Fair is heavy wear you can feel. Drag a fingernail across the back and around the frame. If it drops into scratches, or the corners are scuffed down past the finish, that is Fair. What Fair is not is broken: no cracks, no chips, and everything still works. If your nail glides over everything and the marks only show in bright light, you are in Average, which pays more. If there is a crack, it is Faulty regardless of how tidy the rest of it looks.
Not on its own, and we are not going to send you hunting for a battery health screen. There is no battery percentage rule on this phone. A five year old battery that gets you through half a day is still a working battery. The line is whether it works at all. A phone that shuts down at 40 percent, or dies the moment the cable comes out, has a part that no longer works, and that puts it in Faulty along with everything else that has stopped working.
Yes. That is burn-in, and burn-in grades the phone Faulty. The Xperia 1 II uses an OLED panel, and OLED panels keep a faint memory of anything that sat in one place for long enough. Check it properly before you grade: pull up a plain white image, turn the brightness right up, and look for ghosts of the status bar, the clock or the on-screen buttons. If you can see them, choose Faulty and the price you see is the price you are paid.

Do take your SIM card and your microSD card out, and do leave the empty SIM tray in the phone, because a missing tray is a fault we have to grade.
Neither one. Black, White and Purple all pay the same figure, and the memory the phone was built with makes no difference either. Storage does normally matter, but Sony only sold the US Xperia 1 II with 256GB, so there is nothing to choose between. The grade is the only thing on this page that moves the number.
Not here, and the reason is straightforward rather than fussy. A phone with no power cannot be tested, and your photos, messages and saved passwords cannot be erased off it, so we will not put a price on something we cannot check or clear.
