The two chips look identical from the outside. They are not identical in price. An M1 Pro with 32GB and a 1TB drive in Average condition pays $494. Swap only the chip for an M1 Max and the same laptop pays $638. Nothing else about the machine changed.
A2442 is the MacBook Pro 2021 14-inch. A2485 is the MacBook Pro 2021 16-inch. Turn the laptop upside down and read the small print near the hinge. A2442 covers every MacBook Pro 2021 14-inch Apple sold, so the number will not tell you whether you have an M1 Pro or an M1 Max. Only About This Mac tells you that.

A swollen battery pushes the trackpad up so it clicks strangely, lifts the bottom case, or stops the laptop sitting flat on a table. A swollen battery is a fire risk in transit. Do not put one in a box. A swollen battery also grades Faulty, so shipping it gains you nothing.
Then the MacBook Pro 2021 14-inch grades Faulty. A port that has stopped working is a Faulty trigger on its own, even if the laptop looks perfect and runs fine.
This model has more ports to go wrong than the MacBook Pros either side of it. Three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, a headphone jack and MagSafe 3. Test all seven.
