SELL YOUR GALAXY Z FOLD2 5G
A Galaxy Z Fold2 5G pays between $7 and $102. Small numbers for a phone that cost two thousand dollars in 2020, and we would rather say that plainly than talk around it.
Most people call it a trade-in. We call it a Buyback. Either way, here is the one check worth doing on this particular phone before you pick a grade.
The Galaxy Z Fold2 has no water resistance rating. None at all. Samsung made the Fold3 the first water resistant foldable it had ever built, which tells you exactly where the Fold2 stands. There is no seal on it, and a hinge with that many moving parts is a lot of ways in.
Water damage does not get its own rule with us. It gets caught by the ordinary one: if something on the phone has stopped working, the phone is Faulty. What makes liquid worth checking for is that it often breaks something quietly, weeks later, and you would rather know now than find out from us.
Samsung leaves you a way to check. Power the phone off, pop the SIM tray out with the ejector pin, and shine a flashlight into the empty slot. There is a small sticker in there, the liquid damage indicator. In Samsung's own words, white, or white with light pink or purple marks, means the device has not been exposed to moisture. Solid pink, purple or red means it has.
A red sticker is not automatically a Faulty grade here. If every part of the phone still works, grade it on its wear like anything else. What a red sticker tells you is where to look hardest: play a song through the loudspeaker, record a voice memo and play it back, take a photo with all five cameras, press every button, and check that both screens light evenly. Something dead in that list is Faulty, sticker or no sticker.
The crease down the middle of the inner screen is not a fault and never was. Samsung calls it a normal characteristic of the folding design.
For where to sell a Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, working or broken, we buy both and the postage is free either direction. If it will not power on we cannot buy it, because we cannot test it or clear your data off it, and in that case free recycling is the better answer.

HOW IT WORKS
Choose your size, your network and your condition. Do the flashlight check on the SIM slot first and run through the speakers, mics, cameras and buttons, because on a phone with no water seal that is where trouble hides. The price you accept holds for 14 days.
We email a prepaid USPS label. Sign out of your Google account and erase the phone from Settings so no FRP lock is sitting on it, put the SIM tray back in, and pack it closed with padding round the hinge. Keep the charger and the case.
A person tests your Fold2 by hand inside 48 hours of it arriving, and you hear what was found whichever way it goes. If it matches, payment leaves the same day by gift card, PayPal, bank transfer or check. Everything gets a Department of Defense grade wipe, bought or recycled.

GALAXY Z FOLD2 5G BUYBACK QUESTIONS
A 512GB Galaxy Z Fold2 in Average condition pays $85 and a 256GB pays $65. Average means light wear you can see but cannot feel with a fingernail, which is a realistic place for a six year old phone to land. A tidier one moves up a row or two, where a 512GB pays $92.
No, and this is the only Fold we buy where that is true. Samsung published no IP rating for the Fold2 at all. When the Fold3 arrived a year later, Samsung's own launch wording called it water resistant for the first time ever on a foldable smartphone, which settles what the Fold2 is. Treat yours as a phone with no seal, because that is what it is.
Samsung builds a little indicator into every Galaxy phone and it takes a minute to read.
Power the phone off. Push the ejector pin into the hole beside the SIM tray and slide the tray out. Shine a flashlight into the empty slot and look for a small sticker inside. Samsung's guidance is that white, or white with light pink or purple marks, means the device has not been exposed to moisture, while solid pink, purple or red means it has.
Yes, and it may not even change your grade. We grade on function, not on a sticker. If every part of the phone still works properly, grade it on wear like any other Fold2 and quote it normally. What a pink or red indicator does mean is that you should test harder before you choose: loudspeaker, ear speaker, microphone, all five cameras, every button, charging, and both screens lighting evenly. Anything on that list that has failed makes the phone Faulty, and that would be true with a perfectly white sticker too.
You can, though be realistic about the figure. Any crack or chip, inner panel, cover screen, back or lens cover, grades Faulty, which pays $7 at 256GB and $9 at 512GB. If that is not worth the trip to the mailbox, send it in for free recycling instead. It gets the same Department of Defense grade wipe and you are not out of pocket.
It matters if it has gone past feeling. Samsung put sweeper fibers inside the Hideaway Hinge specifically to push dust out of the gap, because the Fold2 has no dust rating to fall back on. Six years of pockets tends to beat the fibers. Open the phone slowly: a soft mechanical sound is fine, grinding or catching is not, and a hinge that will not hold the angle you set or will not bring the two halves together has failed. A failed hinge is a functionality issue and it grades Faulty.
No. Samsung calls it a normal characteristic of the folding design rather than a defect. It is not damage, it is not a scratch, and we do not price it.
Light wear you can see but cannot feel. Take the case off and drag a fingernail across the cover screen, the back and the frame. If it glides over the marks you are in Average. If it drops into them, that is Fair. Average and Fair both assume no cracks and no chips anywhere. Once there is one, or once something has stopped working, the phone is Faulty regardless of the rest.
Look at the front of the closed phone. The original Galaxy Fold from 2019 has a tiny 4.6-inch strip of a screen with thick bezels above and below it. The Fold2 has a 6.2-inch cover screen that fills the front and is usable as a normal phone. Inside, the Fold2 has a single punch hole camera in the top corner of the big screen where the original had a wide notch. Weights are 282g for the Fold2 against 276g for the Fold. Settings, About phone, Model number gives the certain answer: SM-F916U is the Fold2. We do not currently buy the original Galaxy Fold.
It changes it by a fair bit, so check rather than guess: Settings, About phone, Storage. Worth knowing that every US Galaxy Z Fold2 5G Samsung listed, on every carrier and unlocked, was a 256GB. If yours reports 512GB, quote it as a 512GB and it pays more, $85 against $65 at the same condition.
It is the single most likely reason a clean looking Fold2 grades Faulty, and both screens can do it. Six years of the same clock in the same corner is exactly the recipe. Turn the brightness right up, open a plain white image, and look across the 7.6-inch inner panel at an angle in a dim room, then close the phone and do the same on the 6.2-inch cover screen. A faint ghost of the clock, the status bar, the navigation buttons or a keyboard is burn-in, and burn-in on either panel grades Faulty.
There is not. No Samsung phone we buy has one, there is no battery health screen to photograph, and a six year old battery that needs a lunchtime top up is not going to cost you anything. The only route from battery to grade is total failure, and that is the general rule about things that do not work rather than a battery rule.
Not for a price. No power means we cannot open it, cannot test the panels, the hinge or the cameras, and cannot clear your data, and we will not buy a device we have not been able to wipe. Free recycling covers it instead, with the wipe included, or we return it to you and pay the postage. On a phone at this end of the price list, recycling is usually the sensible choice.
Four things. An unpaid installment plan or lease, because we do not purchase devices under financial obligations. A lost or stolen report, a blacklist entry or a carrier block. A Google account lock or FRP lock still live on the phone. A tripped Knox counter. The account lock is the only one you can fix, and it is a sign out and an erase from Settings before you pack the phone.
Payment is a gift card at about 3 percent above the cash figure, PayPal instantly with PayPal's 2.99 percent fee taken off, a bank transfer in 2 to 4 days, or a check in 3 to 5, and a sealed Brand New Fold2 is PayPal only. On the carrier question, at this age most carriers have stopped offering anything for a Fold2, so the real comparison is usually against leaving it in a drawer. It is worth $85 in Average condition today and it will be worth less every month it sits there. That is the whole argument.
Check the SIM slot, test the parts, then get the number. It holds for 14 days once you accept it.
