No, and it never did. The Galaxy Tab S5e does not support the S Pen at all, so Samsung did not put one in the box and never sold one for it. The screen has no layer that can read a Samsung pen. A cheap rubber-tipped stylus will poke at it like a finger, but that is not an S Pen and it is not what we mean.

This matters because of what happens on the rest of the Tab S range. On a Galaxy Tab S4, Tab S6 or Tab S6 Lite the pen came in the box, so a tablet arriving without one drops straight to Faulty. On a Tab S5e there is nothing to lose and nothing to send. Ship the tablet by itself and your grade is exactly what you quoted.

They are the same size and came out months apart, so this is a fair question. The five second test is the pen: borrow any S Pen and touch it to the screen. A line means Galaxy Tab S6. Nothing at all means Galaxy Tab S5e. To be certain, open Settings, About tablet and read the model number. SM-T720 and SM-T725 are the Tab S5e. SM-T860 and SM-T865 are the Tab S6. It is worth getting right, because the Tab S6 pays roughly two and a half times what a Tab S5e does at the same grade.

Here is a version that works better than staring at a white screen. Open a long plain white webpage, turn the brightness up, and scroll it slowly with your finger. You are not looking for a shape you can name. You are looking for anything at all that stays put while the page moves underneath it.

A faint mark that holds still through the scroll is burn-in, and burn-in is Faulty even on a tablet that works perfectly. A dent that has not cracked anything is not a crack: it is heavy wear, so it is Fair. Choose the grade honestly at the quote step and the number you saw is the number that lands.

Faulty. On Samsung tablets the rule is not a list of parts, it is a principle: if something on the tablet has stopped working, the tablet is Faulty. Before you assume the worst, delete your saved fingerprints in Settings, Biometrics and security, register the same finger again slowly, then lock it and try three times. Plenty of readers that seem dead are just holding a bad scan from years ago. One that still will not register is a failed part.

No, and there is no percentage to hunt for. Samsung tablets have no battery grading rule here at all, and the Tab S5e has no battery health figure to read anyway. A six year old battery being shorter than it was is simply age. The only way a battery enters the grade is by failing outright, so a tablet that dies at 30 percent or only runs on the cable has a part that has stopped working, which is Faulty.

Some people are, and this model more than most, because plenty of Tab S5e tablets lived in a case on a coffee table and never went anywhere. Flawless means no marks at all: nothing on the screen, nothing on the aluminum back, nothing around the edges, under a lamp at arm's length. Light wear you cannot spot at arm's length is Good. Marks you can see but not feel are Average. Wear your fingernail catches on is Fair. If you are hesitating between two grades, take the lower one and let our inspection be the pleasant surprise.

No carrier lock exists on a tablet, so a Tab S5e that ran on Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile is worth exactly what a WiFi one is at the same grade, before the cellular premium.

The two things that do matter are accounts and, on cellular models, the IMEI. Sign out of your Samsung account and your Google account before it ships, because a Google account lock, an FRP lock or a tripped Knox counter means we cannot buy the tablet at any grade. Then, on a cellular Tab S5e only, the IMEI has to be clean: nothing reported lost or stolen, nothing carrier blocked. A WiFi Tab S5e has no IMEI at all, so there is nothing to check.

Sign out before you reset, not after. Settings, tap your name at the top, sign out of your Samsung account. Then Settings, Accounts and backup, Manage accounts, remove the Google account.
